A quick round up of the latest appointments within the UK insurance sector;
AEGIS London has appointed Jonathan Humm as its new class underwriter for marine hull. He joins from Hiscox where he was deputy hull underwriter. Based in AEGIS London’s Gracechurch Street headquarters, he will report to head of marine and energy Richard Palengat.
Former RSA Group Chief Information Officer, Darren Price, has joined Genasys Technologies as a strategic advisor to its newly launched UK operation.
As Group CIO, Darren had global responsibility for RSA’s operating companies across the UK, Ireland, Canada, Scandinavia and the Middle East. He was voted Computing 2017 CIO of the Year for delivering technology and digital transformation and was included within the Global Top 100 CIOs in 2017.
Insurtech start-up Equipsme has made its first new hire since the business went live in March, appointing Jemma Boyce as broker development manager to service the MGA’s growing panel of distributors.
Jemma joins Equipsme from Open GI where she was the national development manager for the past two years. Prior to that, she held several roles at PowerPlace for six years, the last as broker services manager.
GRP and Plum Underwriting
Simon Lewer has been appointed business development director, underwriting, at GRP. Simon will report to Clive Nathan, CEO of underwriting.
He moves from his current business development role at GRP’s Plum Underwriting business, and will start his new role immediately, representing Plum Underwriting, Camberford Law, City of London Underwriting, and European Property Underwriting.
Meanwhile Plum Underwriting (Plum) is expanding the firm’s broker scheme portfolio after appointing Heidi Saxty to the newly created role of Head of Schemes Underwriting.
Heidi joins Plum with almost 20 years’ experience in household schemes underwriting management. She will be responsible for growing and delivering profitable growth from existing and new scheme opportunities utilising Plum’s expertise in the non standard and specialist household market.
Crawford and Company
April Stowers has joined Crawford as Head of Strategic Business Development, having worked in the past for Trafalgar and claims specialist Marsh.
Rhys Perkins joins Jelf, in the newly-created position of Development Manager for the South Wales region.
The new role has been established with the objectives of raising awareness of the work that the organisation does and building relationships with prospective and existing clients.
Jonathan Santer, Clive Upton and Paul Miles all become new heads of different departments in the LV= personal lines division.
Santer was the personal lines motor manager at Allianz UK. He has now been appointed as LV= Broker’s head of home underwriting. Upton has been at LV= for over 11 years, where he was head of motor underwriting. He has been promoted to head of personal lines underwriting. Miles joined LV= in 2009 as head of commercial motor. He has been moved up to head of personal lines underwriting for van, motorcycle and specialist.
