SEDGWICK

Sedgwick, a leading global provider of technology-enabled risk, benefits and integrated business solutions, tannounced the appointment of Ruth Leggett as CEO of its operations in Ireland. Leggett steps into the role held for 24 years by industry veteran Malcolm Hughes, who will remain with the company as executive chairman for Ireland and international executive director.

As CEO, Leggett will work to further grow Sedgwick’s business and resources in Ireland — a key geography in Sedgwick’s global network. Her deep involvement in the company’s day-to-day operations as chief of staff and deputy CEO for Ireland and years of experience integrating teams, empowering colleagues, and advancing organizational development position her well for success in her new role.

Through this transition, Hughes will be elevated to the role of executive chairman for Ireland, remaining an integral part of the domestic management team. He will also serve as international executive director of Sedgwick, with a focus on diversifying the company’s global service offerings.

ALBANY

London-based automated risk, compliance and regulation software specialists, Albany Group, has announced the appointment of a new board member with specialist knowledge of insurance and technology, as the company looks to continue its rapid growth within the insurance industry.

Former Swiftcover founder Matt Potashnick, will be responsible for using his extensive experience to drive growth and support in developing innovative software solutions to solve the problems the insurance industry is facing amidst the backdrop of the pandemic.

Matt has extensive technical experience and is currently chief information officer at the UK’s largest life insurance broker, Reassured, a role he will continue alongside this new advisory position. Prior to this, he launched two disruptive insurance companies: Swiftcover in 2005 and Intergroup Insurance in 1996.

At Swiftcover, he created an online solution, now the norm, allowing customers to purchase motor insurance online for the first time in the UK, then moving the business into home and travel insurance. The company was acquired by AXA in 2007 where he subsequently served as group CIO for UK & Ireland.

METROMILE

Metromile, Inc., a leading digital insurance platform and pay-per-mile auto insurer, today announced Regi Vengalil will join the company as Chief Financial Officer on May 24, 2021.

Vengalil will be responsible for Metromile’s financial management, including financial planning and operations, treasury, investor relations, reinsurance and corporate development. He will play a critical role in advancing Metromile’s continued growth strategies and focus on ensuring the strength of the company’s balance sheet and delivering sustainable and profitable unit economics.

GREATER THAN

Greater Than, the leading provider of AI-based risk insight and Insurtech solutions, today announced that Markus Waldenström is named the company’s new CFO. Markus Waldenström joins Greater Than from Telia Ventures, where he most recently served as Investment Manager. Markus will be based at the Stockholm headquarters and overseeing Greater Than’s global finances and operations.

COPLUS

Coplus has announced the appointment of two Divisional Managing Directors as the business creates a new divisionalised structure. Andrew Bennett is the new Managing Director for Insurance Products and James Blyth has been appointed as Managing Director for Claims.

Both Andrew and James have a wealth of expertise within insurance and claims handling. Andrew has worked within the General Insurance industry for 20 years with market leaders such as Allianz, BGL Group, Direct Line and General Motors subsidiary MICL. James joined Coplus in 2000 and has been instrumental in the businesses evolution and growth with vast experience within the operation.

On his appointment Andrew said “I’m really excited to be leading the product division at Coplus. There is great scope for our insurance products and now with some early wins under our belt we believe we can show true customer value at competitive prices using innovative financial models reflecting the modern business that we are . ARDONAGH

Ardonagh Advisory Holdings Ltd (“Ardonagh Advisory”) announces the appointment of Phil Bayles as Chief Commercial Officer.

Phil joins Ardonagh Advisory from Aviva UK where he has held a variety of senior roles spanning 18 years, most latterly Chief Distribution Officer.

In this newly created role reporting into CEO of Ardonagh Advisory, Rob Worrell, Phil will be a member of the Ardonagh Advisory Executive Team, leading on placement and strategic growth initiatives including M&A. Phil will also oversee Broker Network and Compass, working closely with MD of Networks Jaime Swindle, where he will continue to voice his unequivocal support of independent insurance broking.

MINSTER LAW

Insurance and transformation specialist Maggie Game has been appointed chief operating officer (COO) at Minster Law, commencing her new role at the Yorkshire-based law firm on 6 April.
