Nextbase and Autonet Team Up on Van Cams

Leading British tech brand, Nextbase, and Autonet Insurance have partnered to launch a van insurance product which offers drivers a discount on their premium and zero excess if they install a Dash Cam, inclusive of the policy, and will provide footage of the claimable event at point of claim.

Nextbase and Autonet Insurance are offering this discounted insurance policy in the hope that it will help create safer roads, as research from Nextbase has found that drivers with a dash cam are 33% less likely to have an accident than the average motorist.

As fraudulent insurance claims and ‘crash for cash’ scams become more prevalent on the roads, commercial drivers and the companies they work for are putting increased emphasis on the importance of Dash Cams. The livelihoods of professional motorists depend on them being able to get behind the wheel of their vehicle, so an independent witness in the event of an incident is a highly desirable asset.

Little bit of background on the Nexbase dash camera features for you;

The technocology can minimise insurance claim processing, potentially reducing the time it takes to get vehicles back on the road. Likewise, insurers can also benefit from these time saving improvements. When not at fault, Dash Cam footage can be the difference between settling a claim on a 50/50 basis with the possible loss of a no claims discount and increased future premiums, and the case settling in your favour.

With this in mind, Nextbase has partnered with an insurance specialist to create a brand new Commercial Vehicle offering. It will be the first service of this nature for Autonet Insurance (part of Atlanta Group). The Dash Cam, alongside a memory card and carry case, is funded wholly by Autonet Insurance and delivered free of charge as part of every ‘Autonet Protect’ insurance purchase.

Sam Dawson, Head of Product (Car & Van) for Atlanta Group – one of the largest van insurance brokers in the UK – comments:

“Our van business, and by extension this new service, is designed primarily for commercial vehicle customers. We recognise that without a vehicle our tradespeople are simply unable to work. This proposition will provide protection for our policyholders and their livelihoods. When selecting a suitable partner for this, it was vital that we were able to source a company that could offer value for our policyholders alongside class-leading technology. Nextbase is an experienced business and market leader in its field. We wanted to offer customers involved in non-fault claims, Dash Cams that provide increased protection,  additional peace of mind, as well as money-saving benefits.

“Unfortunately, whilst a camera cannot prevent an accident, it can provide crucial evidence at claim stage. What’s more, independent footage at point of claim is invaluable to an insurer, ensuring ‘potential’ decisions around claims settlements are faster, fairer, and more accurate.”

Richard Peak, Senior Business Development Manager at Nextbase, added:

“Commercial drivers are the backbone of the UK’s infrastructure and it is vital for businesses that they are protected whilst on the road. The development of innovative and dynamic technology, such as Dash Cams, are giving businesses a means of safeguarding their drivers and vehicles from anywhere in the UK. Nextbase pioneered the UK’s first Dash Cam inclusive consumer insurance policy several years ago, and since then has seen the wider insurance industry recognise the practical and financial benefits that come from Dash Cam use. Nextbase is pleased to bring the benefits of Dash Cams to the commercial insurance sector, and we are thrilled to partner with Atlanta Group on this initiative.”
