Following a 100% increase in the volume of ADAS calibrations since 2019, Auto Windscreens is continuing to commit to the future, introducing a dedicated role and naming Darren Boden as its ADAS Technical Manager. The company has also invested in the latest tools from Hella Guttman, allowing it to meet increasing demand and offer ADAS calibrations to customers at each of its 70 sites across the UK.
Darren has worked for Auto Windscreens for nearly 30 years, starting as a Technician and then joining the training team. Operations Director, Sean Draycott commented: “Darren will bring vast knowledge and experience to his position as ADAS Technical Manager. I’m confident he will excel and play a key role in the growth and success of Auto Windscreens, as we expand our ADAS solution.”
Darren added: “ADAS technology isn’t going anywhere – an article by LexisNexis reports ‘predictions that some level of ADAS will be present in 85% all vehicles produced globally by 2025*’, so it’s not something the industry can afford to ignore.”
Auto Windscreens figures show in 2019 its highest proportion of ADAS jobs were being undertaken on luxury cars – Jaguar (30.1%), Land Rover (23.2%), Mercedes (20.8%) and Porsche (20.6%). It saw a shift in 2021, with the proportion increasing for Seat (a massive 438.3%), Citroen (171.5%), Vauxhall (139.1%) and Ford (118%), suggesting a huge increase in the adoption of ADAS technologies for these manufacturers.
Darren concluded: “ADAS features are now more widely available in popular models but many customers are unaware they require recalibration following a windscreen replacement. We want to make things as easy as possible for customers, but also educate them on the importance of keeping these systems working properly.”
