As part of its transition plan in preparation for the potential easing of restrictions around COVID-19, AGL is proud to announce plans to raise a six-figure sum for charities, including the NHS, with the Gumball Charity Revival.
AGL specialises in technology-led accident management services and partners with some of the best-known fleet providers and insurers to service hundreds of thousands of claims a year.
During the coronavirus lock-down, AGL has continued to provide services to its insurance and corporate fleet clients, supporting key workers including food delivery drivers, HGV drivers, utility workers and NHS workers. It has also continued to operate its Activate Accident Repair centres in Birmingham and Glasgow, providing much needed vehicle repair services to front-line workers.
Now, the company is looking ahead and calling on the insurance and corporate fleet worlds to come together in support of three special charities (Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, Brake the road safety charity and NHS Charities Together) to raise tens of thousands of pounds in the Gumball Charity Revival.
Mark Wilcox, Chairman of AGL, and one of the founding member of the event, said: “It is early days yet, but we feel it is important to have something to work towards that will bring us together in raising much needed funds for three amazing charities.”
He added: “Previous Gumball events have raised six figures for charity, and we’d like to exceed that this time, offering a great opportunity to celebrate the industry and its focus on philanthropy. We’re announcing our intention to hold this event to provide a beacon in difficult times and offer us all something to work towards and look forward to supporting.”
Participants will be invited to express their interest in taking part in the event in the next few weeks, which is targeted to take place a year from now, on 16-18 April 2021.
The event will see around 50 cars of all shapes and sizes taking part in a three-day driving event across Ireland. Teams will be challenged to come up with a creative car design that celebrates the colours of the Irish flag, with a prize for the best-decorated car.
Mark said: “The focus of the event is on fun not speed and our goal is to raise as much money and awareness as possible for our charity partners.”
Health and safety will be of paramount importance, with plans to: adapt the event to meet any guidelines that remain in place for COVID-19, two safety support vehicles following the drivers and road safety guidance provided by Brake, one of AGL’s charity partners.
Mark concluded: “We’re announcing our intention to hold this event now because we feel it’s even more important than ever before to find ways to give back, challenge ourselves and come together.
“We’re asking the insurance and corporate fleet industries to stand with us and express their interest in taking part and together we can look forward to raising significant sums for these important charities in a safe way and at the right time.”
