Job Moves and Senior Appointments 18.03.2024

Time once again for the weekly job moves round-up, let’s get into it;

NOVIDEA

Novidea, creator of the cloud-based, data-driven enterprise insurance management platform for brokers, agents, MGAs/MGUs, and wholesalers, today announced the appointment of Daniela Krispin as VP, Research & Development. Daniela will be responsible for leading the company’s research and development processes, driving innovation initiatives, implementing advanced technologies (such as AI), and fostering a product-oriented and agile organisational culture.

Daniela brings over 25 years of experience in product development, both in start-ups and global corporations, specialising in SaaS products, data, and AI systems.

She has held senior technology roles at Amdocs, most recently Head of AI & Data. Subsequently, she served as VP R&D at Seebo, playing a key role in its growth by leading strategic initiatives, building and leading multi-disciplinary teams, and optimising processes and product architecture. Following the acquisition of Seebo by Augury, Daniela was appointed as VP R&D for the acquiring company.

MARSH

Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker and risk advisor and a business of Marsh McLennan, has announced the appointment of Koen van Leuven as the Marine Broking Director, Marsh Netherlands. Based in Rotterdam, he is expected to join the business in summer 2024. Mr. van Leuven will report to Ivo Wansink, Specialty and Placement Leader, Marsh Netherlands, and Kristof De Bremme, Head of Marine, Cargo and Logistics, Europe, Marsh Specialty.

In this role Mr. van Leuven will lead Marsh Netherlands’ Marine business, which provides hull and cargo insurance broking services and risk advisory expertise to the country’s maritime sector. He will also be responsible for coordinating Marsh’s specialist logistics services across Europe, which will include optimising cross-country operations and the development of new solutions that support clients in managing their supply chain and logistics risks.

COMPRE

Compre, the Bermuda-domiciled international legacy group, announces the appointment of Zameer (Zam) Mitha to the newly created role of group commercial director within the group’s business development function.

Mitha, who joined Compre as chief actuary – North America in 2022, will be responsible for business origination in the European and Lloyd’s markets and the group’s strategic market and product development. Reporting directly to group CEO Will Bridger, he will also work closely with group M&A director Connie Tregidga on the evaluation of Compre’s retrospective reinsurance transactions.

Mitha has more than 20 years’ experience in various leadership roles across actuarial, strategy and underwriting, spanning the UK, Europe and North American markets.

Bridger said: “I am delighted that Zam has agreed to take on the new role of group commercial director at Compre. He has a broad background across several insurance functions and markets that position him extremely well to provide leadership to many of our key client relationships across Europe and Lloyd’s, as well as providing oversight and challenge to our evaluation of transactions. ARMD

ARMD, the award-winning insurance MGA that flies the flag for the £6.5bn underserved tradespeople market in the UK, announces that Alan Hickman, also founder of Cycler, has joined as co-founder of ARMD to support the growth of the firm’s Insurance business, which is now 100% focused on distributing its insurance offering via brokers.

In December 2023, ARMD partnered with their first wholesale broker distribution platform, Sparta Insurance Services, to provide a new product that gives 24/7 protection for tradespeople’s tools. Following the success of this product, ARMD is now accelerating growth in the broker market.

HANNOVER RE

The Supervisory Boards of Hannover Rück SE and E+S Rückversicherung AG have appointed Thorsten Steinmann (51) as a member of the Executive Board of Hannover Re and E+S Rück effective 1 September 2024.

He will succeed Michael Pickel (63), who will retire on 31 December 2024 after 25 successful years at Hannover Re.

Thorsten Steinmann joins from Swiss Re, where he was most recently responsible for the reinsurance business in Germany, the Nordics, Austria, Central and Eastern Europe, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Following a transition period, he will head E+S Rück, the Hannover Re subsidiary responsible for the Group’s German business, as Chief Executive Officer effective 1 January 2025, and will be responsible for yet to be determined markets in continental Europe at Hannover Re.

PREM FINA

PremFina today announces the appointment of Maz Chambers in the new role of Chief Transformation Officer.

Maz joins with 25 years of experience across the financial services and fintech industries, and a track record of delivering large-scale and complex programmes spanning operational, regulatory and technical change. Maz joins PremFina from Klarna, where she held a number of leadership positions in the UK over the last 5 years, most recently as the UK’s Head of Operations.

Over Maz’s tenure at Klarna she implemented a significant amount of change, balancing regulatory requirements with the needs of consumers as the business scaled from being a new UK entrant to providing a better way to shop and pay, for over 18 million UK consumers.

SPECIALTY MGA

Specialty MGA UK, a managing general agent focused on providing additional capacity for hard-to-place risks, has continued to expand its presence in Latin America with a new hire.

Humberto Contasta, who has more than two decades of experience in the industry, joins Specialty MGA as Head of Treaty, Latin America and the Caribbean, and will work out of the firm’s office in Miami.

Through previous roles with Odyssey Re and Trans Re, he has handled property insurance portfolios across Latin America. At Specialty MGA he will look to increase the firm’s book of business by developing a new marketing plan and building brand awareness.

WORLD TRAVEL PROTECTION

Global travel risk management company World Travel Protection – part of the Zurich Insurance Group – has appointed Chris Knight as Chief Director of Global Provider Networks.

Chris will be based in World Travel Protection’s London Command Centre and has over 20 years experience in operations and transformation, including most recently working for Healix, as Director of Business Transformation.

Before this, he spent six years as Director of Assistance Operations for Charles Taylor Assistance where he was responsible for all aspects of medical assistance, Retail, Corporate, IPMI, Direct clients’ teams and utilising the Global Network and Cost Containment team to complement the services he had direct leadership responsibility over. Chris has also worked with Crisis24 (formerly known as Drum Cussac Risk Management Services) as the Operations Director.

CHUBB

Chubb today announced the launch of a global transactional risk platform to provide transactional risk liability insurance products across international markets. Chubb has appointed Josh Cowen as Senior Vice President, International Transactional Risk to lead this initiative from London. Cowen, a seasoned mergers and acquisition (M&A) risk insurance professional, will be responsible for leading a team of underwriters focused on warranty and indemnity, tax and contingent liability products in jurisdictions outside of North America.

Chubb’s existing North America business will be enhanced, with the addition of Cowen in London. The global transactional risk platform will be focused on meeting the needs of broker partners and clients who require a global presence and operating footprint to support their global M&A transactions. The platform will operate globally with one leadership team led by Edward Markovich, Executive Vice President, Chubb Transactional Risk, and will utilize a coordinated and consistent strategy and approach to underwriting.

“Chubb is positioned to support our broker partners and clients with transactional risk solutions in jurisdictions across the world with our new international business lead,” said Markovich. “Josh’s deep understanding of transactional risk underwriting, and leadership experience sourcing and leading M&A insurance placements will complement our goal to grow our transactional risk practice as a global platform.”

Cowen will report to Lance Fraser, Senior Vice President, Chubb Transactional Risk. Cowen joins Chubb with nearly 15 years of transaction risk experience. Previously, he held senior management roles overseeing M&A underwriting at several marquee insurance brands. Josh is a qualified solicitor for England and Wales and practiced as a corporate lawyer for a leading London-based law firm prior to his move into M&A insurance underwriting.
