Headteachers from six schools serving students in areas with high levels of deprivation, will benefit from a new partnership between broker representative body LIIBA and education not-for-profit Inspiration for All. Here are the details FYI.
The collaboration means that school leaders will be mentored by senior level professionals from LIIBA members for a 9-month programme to help develop their skills.
LIIBA members will be matched with a first cohort of six leaders from schools across London and Essex, with a second cohort planned for June this year. The peer-mentoring partnership is designed to enhance leadership skills, broaden perspectives for both mentor and mentee, and promote social mobility across disadvantaged communities.
LIIBA mentors for the first cohort are:
- Andy Bragoli, LIIBA Chair and Chair, Group Placement at Howden
- Christopher Croft, Chief Executive, LIIBA
- Jacqueline Girow, Executive Director, LIIBA
- Mark Rose, Partner and Head of Global Real Estate & Construction at Lockton
- Paul Jack, LIIBA Board member and Partner and Director at Lockton
- Shirley Girling, General Counsel, Risk & Broking at WTW
Jacqueline Girow, who leads Belonging@LIIBA – LIIBA’s DEI programme – said: “We are proud to collaborate with our members and Inspiration for All on this transformative mentorship programme. By leveraging our members’ wealth of experience in leading successful insurance businesses, we aim to equip school leaders with valuable skills and insights that will drive excellence in their schools and empower their pupils to reach their full potential.
“At the same time, this initiative provides mentors with a unique opportunity to develop their leadership and coaching abilities, broaden their perspectives, and make a meaningful impact on the next generation. By fostering connections between business and education, we are helping to promote social mobility and create pathways to success for all.”
Sarah Caton, CEO Inspiration for All, added:
“Inspiration for All is delighted to be working with LIIBA members on the Inspiring Partnerships programme. The programme matches school leaders and business leaders in unique peer-mentoring partnerships that create fresh perspectives, enhance leadership skills and drive social mobility.
“Working with LIIBA members is particularly exciting as together we seek to break down barriers to opportunity for young people in the insurance industry through creating reciprocal, empathetic relationships with school leaders. We are lucky to be starting with six very experienced and capable LIIBA members who bring an exceptional range of skills and a genuine commitment to delivering tangible change in their industry. We look forward to following the progress of this pilot group as we open up more opportunities for members to join the programme in June.”
The partnership officially launched on 4 March at an event hosted at LIIBA offices.
