Telematics: Howden Working With One Sure to Resolve Freedom Group Issues

Honda launches next generation Honda SENSING Elite safety system with Level 3 automated driving features

The word from Howden Driving Data, after the collapse of Freedom Connect;

Howden Driving Data has enabled uninterrupted telematics services for One Sure after the administration of Freedom Connect, a telematics data supplier owned by Freedom Group, left the broker’s connected motor insurance products at risk.

Following the collapse of Freedom Connect, telematics data transmission from thousands of customer vehicles suddenly ceased, a situation that could have jeopardised One Sure’s insurer capacity relationships and disrupted service for existing policyholders.

By working closely with One Sure, Howden Driving Data delivered an emergency continuity solution in under two weeks. This rapid response included:

– Deploying two fully operational customer apps

– Establishing two telematics brand environments

– Integrating with One Sure’s software platforms

– Restoring data services for existing policyholders

– Enabling One Sure to continue offering new telematics policies

The speed and scale of the deployment safeguarded insurer capacity for One Sure and protected customers from disruption, maintaining confidence in connected motor solutions at a critical moment for the market.

Penny Searles, Chairman, Howden Driving Data, said:

“Telematics is built on trust, reliability and speed. When this challenge emerged we knew that thousands of customers and important insurer partnerships were at stake. Our teams worked around the clock, across nights and weekends, to ensure data continuity and protect confidence in telematics insurance. We are proud to have supported One Sure and the wider industry at a time when fast action truly mattered.”

“What this experience has shown is that we can mobilise and deliver at a pace rarely seen in insurance. Going forward, I will be expecting our teams to work with clients to deliver onboarding and go-live with this level of speed as standard — not just in emergency circumstances! With AI now deeply embedded in our processes, from technical build to customer engagement, we can accelerate deployments and raise the bar on service across the industry.”

Chris Lear, CEO, One Sure, commented:

“The situation with Freedom Connect could have had serious implications for us and our insurer partners. The commitment and speed from the Howden Driving Data team has been absolutely outstanding. They moved at record pace, delivered flawlessly, and ensured our customers and partners experienced no disruption. We couldn’t be more impressed or grateful.”

This collaboration highlights the strength of partnership in the motor insurance industry and demonstrates how agile technology deployment can protect customers, brokers and insurer capacity in challenging circumstances.
