OK it’s a random Thursday but we have got off to a busy start on appointments news this week, as the 5th was really the first true working day. Let’s get into it;
ADDEPT INSURANCE
Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of David Saillen as chief underwriting officer (CUO) Europe, effective immediately. Based in Zurich, Saillen will report jointly to Pierre-Edouard Fraigneau, president of LSM’s European region, and Ronald Bolaños, Global CUO, Liberty International Insurance. Saillen succeeds Fraigneau, who became president of the European region earlier this year. Fraigneau retains the legal and regulatory responsibilities associated with Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe.
In his new role, Saillen will be accountable for underwriting performance across Europe, and driving outstanding outcomes for his team and Liberty’s clients and broking partners. With ten years of service at Liberty, Saillen is perfectly placed to drive forward the Invest in Europe 2030 strategy, Liberty’s mission to be a long-term, supportive partner for insureds and partners across the continent.
CARBON
Carbon is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecca Ince as Chief Operating Officer, effective 5th January 2026. In her new role, Rebecca will take responsibility for overseeing all day-to-day operations at Carbon, including the technology, data, operations, compliance, and risk teams.
Rebecca has 25 years of industry experience and joins Carbon from Dual International where she held the role of Chief Operating Officer. Prior to her time at Dual, Rebecca spent 18 years at Hiscox, where she ultimately held the roles of CFO and COO at Hiscox MGA. This experience has provided Rebecca with a detailed knowledge of operational efficacy, and a comprehensive understanding of the market.
Rebecca joins during a period of exceptional growth that has seen Carbon go from £15m to £320m in premium over the past five years. In her new role Rebecca will play a pivotal role in the continuation of Carbon’s success, and the execution of its growth strategy.
ALLIANZ
Allianz UK has announced the appointment of Hailey Franklin to the newly-created role of Commercial Director for Allianz Personal Broker.
Hailey will report to the Managing Director of Allianz Personal Broker and lead initiatives to strengthen trading performance and enhance business capabilities. Working closely with core teams, she will focus on delivering solutions that support Allianz Personal Broker’s commitment to a simple, stronger, and smarter approach.
Hailey has a wealth of knowledge from her 13 years at Allianz and in the insurance industry, where she has held senior roles across pricing, underwriting, and distribution. Her understanding of the market and ability to deliver results will be instrumental in shaping the next chapter for Allianz Personal Broker.
WESTFIELD SPECIALTY
Further to their announcement in July, RiverStone International confirms that Paul Brockman has today commenced his role as Group Chief Executive Officer.
Paul brings more than 33 years of experience in the global insurance and reinsurance industry, having held senior leadership roles spanning strategy, operations, claims and M&A. He has previously served as an executive across multiple insurance and reinsurance businesses and has led teams across 20 offices worldwide.

VENTIS
Ventis, the commercial and residential real estate MGA backed by Mission, has announced the appointment of Holly Ivall as Lead Trading SME Underwriter, and the promotion of Zoe Hughes to Senior Underwriter.
Holly (ABOVE) will assume responsibility for referrals acquired by Ventis through the Acturis platform and upholding Ventis’ 30-minute Acturis referral policy. She will also have a strategic role monitoring the inbound flow of business and opportunities for Ventis to continue innovating its offering to clients and brokers. She is responsible for new business. Holly will report to Gareth Roberts, CEO of Ventis.

Zoe Hughes (ABOVE) has been promoted to Senior Underwriter after two years as an Underwriter with Ventis. She will assume official responsibility for the management of Ventis’ existing book of business, both in the UK and Ireland, ensuring renewals and mid-term adjustments are processed within the period laid out in the Service Level Agreement.
Gareth Roberts added: “Zoe has been integral to the establishment and the success of Ventis to date, and has developed her knowledge and relationships significantly over the last two years. I am excited to see her continuing development in her new role.”
NORTHSTANDARD
NorthStandard has appointed Steve Cockburn as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NorthStandard Europe – the Dublin-based subsidiary which has oversight of around 40 per cent of the global marine insurer’s book.
The appointment follows the formal integration of two Dublin-based legacy companies previously representing the ‘North P&I’ and ‘The Standard Club’. Before their merger in 2023, North and Standard were the only P&I clubs established in Ireland.
Bringing them together creates a significant European insurance company in a centre of commerce with enduring appeal for global businesses.
ARTIFICIAL LABS
Artificial Labs (Artificial), the leading provider of digital broking and underwriting technology, has announced the appointment of Elizabeth Wooliston as Chief of Markets, effective immediately.
Elizabeth will oversee market engagement, working strategically with Artificial’s partners to effectively deploy the company’s Smart Underwriting and Smart Placement tools. Her role will involve working closely with carriers and brokers to understand their strategic business goals, identifying opportunities for digitisation to continue to support their future growth, productivity, and positive client experience.
In a career spanning 30 years in the insurance and reinsurance market, Elizabeth has held executive roles in underwriting, broking, and insurtech. Most recently, she served as Underwriting Director at the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA). Prior to this, Elizabeth was the CEO of Nimbla, a challenger trade credit MGA. For nearly two decades she held various roles at Aon culminating in Chief Broking Officer for EMEA. She has also held board roles at Fidelis Insurance Group, Arthur J. Gallagher UK, and the Women’s FA.
RRELENTLESS
Subsidence solutions provider Geobear has appointed Lauren Hicks as its UK insurance lead to support its growth and help tackle long claims waiting lists. Hicks will use her position to build long-lasting partnerships with insurers and loss adjusters and advocate for earlier intervention to protect residential, commercial and infrastructural assets from subsidence.
Hicks replaces the previous insurance lead and takes on a new focus in social housing, assisting engineers and area managers to increase Geobear’s visibility and navigate the complexities of public procurement, using years of experience with local authorities and NHS trusts.
AEGIS LONDON
Price Forbes announces that Dick Heath has been appointed to the role of head of Reinsurance and Wholesale, Singapore, effective immediately. He will report directly to Philip Johnson, chief executive officer, Price Forbes Asia Pacific.
Heath, a well-known and respected figure in the APAC re/insurance market, will be responsible for leading and developing Price Forbes’ reinsurance and wholesale proposition across its Singapore platform to maximise growth opportunities and to best serve the shifting needs of this rapidly growing sector.
His appointment forms part of Price Forbes Singapore’s broader organisational approach, with the business operating across three centres of excellence: Reinsurance & Wholesale, Specialty & Retail, and Marine, Credit & Political Risk which allows for dedicated focus across each area while supporting the business’s continued growth.
