Broker Update: Lansdown Invite Public Vote on Charity Support

Cheltenham based Lansdown Insurance Brokers are kicking off a brand new charity initiative in 2019 – Lansdown Giving. This campaign will see a total of £15,000 put back into the Gloucestershire community; £10,000 to the winning charity and a further £5,000 split out between the other nine finalists.

Employees at Lansdown each voted for a charity to make the initial shortlist, these charities were then contacted to provide a statement describing what they do and how they would put this money to good use within the community. The shortlisted charities are:

·         Abbeymead Under 5s

·         CCP Cheltenham

·         Charity St Vincent & St Georges Association

·         Cotswold RDA Riding for the Disabled Association

·         Family Space

·         Gloucestershire Animal Welfare Association

·         Gloucestershire Bundles

·         Gloucestershire Deaf Association

·         Gloucestershire Young Carers

·         Hollie Gazzard Trust

·         James Hopkins Trust

·         Mindsong

·         Pied Piper Appeal

·         Sunflowers Suicide Support

·         The Barn Owl Centre

·         The Butterfly Garden

·         Vale Wildlife Rescue

Lansdown are now asking the general public to put forward their nominations for the charity they would like to see win the £10k grant. It is now up to the shortlisted charities to drum up votes for their causes. Nominations are now open and will close at 17:00 on 31st January. Following the closing date, the top ten charities that received the most votes will be invited for a day of celebrations and the grant giving on Thursday 23rd May at a Cheltenham hotel.

No charity is too small to be in the running for the grant, but turnover is capped at £15m. The grant will have to be used towards a specific project which will make a true difference to the cause it is aimed at. All charities will need to be UK registered and projects must benefit Gloucestershire.

Darren Bee, General Manager at the property Insurance specialists said “Our staff all live locally and many of these charities have touched the lives of them, their families or their friends and because of this we feel really passionately about giving something back to our community. We hope that these grants can help the shortlisted charities make a tangible difference to the lives of the people and animals they help day in day out.”

Over the last three years, the Cheltenham broker has donated £31,000 to Gloucestershire based charities, but is now streamlining their charitable initiatives into one annual campaign.
