John Garrard has joined Bridge Insurance Brokers Ltd to launch its new business, aimed at the freelance and contract professional community.
Bridge’s ipro is being headed up by John, who joins the leading insurance brokers as a director following senior careers with Fish Insurance and Carole Nash. He is working alongside fellow Bridge director Alex Cohen to create the new company, which is Bridge’s first fully digital insurance offering.
“We are creating a simple, no-nonsense portfolio of products specifically aimed at the growing number of self-employed professionals all over the UK,” says John.
“ipro will offer professional indemnity, public liability and employers’ liability insurance along with other value add products. It will be targeted at freelancers, independent contractors and start-ups, across multiple industries including IT, project management and creative and media.”
Self-employment in the UK is continuing to boom, with the country now playing home to at least two million self-employed professionals, according to the Office of National Statistics. Bridge, one of Manchester’s most established insurance brokers, carried out extensive research into the specific needs of this demographic before developing the new company and its product range.
“Independent business people have a lot of plates to spin and we recognise that insurance often falls to the bottom, without due diligence into best products available,” says Alex.
“We are harnessing fifty years of experience as a leading insurance broker and adding to it with John’s appointment – his wealth of digital experience and leadership makes him the perfect person to head up ipro and build the best team possible to support our latest venture.
“This is a market ripe for a new way of thinking and we are delighted to introduce the first digital brand from Bridge to do just that – with many more online schemes being planned,” concludes John.
ipro’s team will be based across Bridge Insurance Broker’s Manchester and London offices and will be added to over the coming months.
