Freedom Services Group (FSG) is joining forces with leading InsurTech firm, ThingCo, to create the latest business within the group, Pukka Tech.
The joint venture is the collective brainchild of FSG Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Sam White and ThingCo Founder and CEO, Mike Brockman. Based at the FSG headquarters in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, Pukka Tech has been strategically created with the singular purpose to enhance and strengthen the group’s existing tech offering ensuring an even more seamless and cost effective customer journey.
Sam White said: “This is such a milestone for the businesses under the FSG umbrella. We’ve spent the past few years since the launch of Pukka Insure building an incredible end to end motor consumer journey, now we need the cutting edge technology to complete the circle.
I realised pretty early on that most InsurTech businesses create tech and then try to reverse engineer the customer acquisition, making multiple compromises along the way when it should be the other way around. Identify the problem then create the tech solution. We looked at numerous tech offerings to match our needs but we still felt there were solutions that we needed that weren’t currently available so we decided to build our own to and we couldn’t think of a better team to work with on it than ThingCo’s award winning experts.
“Mike (Brockman) and I are now building the best possible team to engineer the solutions to the problems we have encountered and through every step the customers ease of use will be front and paramount to the changes we make. Collaborative tech should make things simpler, not more complicated and we want to create software to complement the existing team, not replace them with programming and algorithms. The human touch is still essential to our success in business.”
The joint venture won’t just benefit FSG’s consumers, the combined efforts of FSG and ThingCo will allow Pukka Tech to utilise their tech and ideas to help other insurers in the future.
Commenting on the announcement, ThingCo Founder and CEO, Mike Brockman said: “This joint venture gives us a sandbox for trying new ideas and exploring what is possible using the latest technology, and how we can improve customer experiences using voice and self serve. Using Freedom to test products developed within the JV, we can go to market to supply products that have been tried and tested and proven already, that aim to improve processes for both insurers and their customers.
“Sam is a disrupter, something I’ve always said the insurance industry desperately needs more of. A perfect personality fit with me!”
