Skoda Scooter is An Eco-Friendly Urban Transport Option

Recently IE mag covered Ducati’s foray into the brave new world of e-scooters. These electric buzzboards are set to become legal road transport in the UK, as a trial is being conducted to assess the safety aspects later in 2020. Users will NOT be required to take out insurance, or wear a helmet. But what if you don’t fancy the cut & thrust of electric scootering in busy traffic? Well there is the push-along scooter option.

ŠKODA has developed the perfect accessory for the owner who needs to cross the city in style: the ŠKODA Scooter. This brings a new dimension to the old Park & Ride idea. In theory it allows urban hipsters to park for free just outside town centres and then scoot into their fave vegan cafe to grab some granola bars and free WiFi. Nice.

The ŠKODA Scooter features a clever twist on the standard push-along scooter design. Thanks to a patented folding mechanism, the ŠKODA Scooter can be folded up in a few simple steps. Collapsed, it measures just 49×42×11cm and fits into the spare wheel well under the boot floor of the Scala and Kamiq (when fitted with a breakdown kit). This means that the entire volume of the boot remains free for transporting luggage and shopping.

The thought occurs to us here at IE magazine that you could fold this up and carry it on public transport, and then scoot the last mile or so into work. Or the pub. TfL and many other bus, tram and train operators may well ban such hi-jinks if that idea catches on.

Unlike many scooters, the ŠKODA Scooter has been designed for adult use and has a weight capacity of 100kg. The frame is made from hard-wearing steel and aluminium and finished in black with ŠKODA green highlights on the wheels and handlebar grips. High-quality bearings and wheels in polyurethane guarantee an equally fast and comfortable riding experience. Despite its solid construction, the ŠKODA Scooter weighs just 5kg, making it easy to carry on public transport or into offices.

The ŠKODA Scooter is available as an accessory through retailers and is priced at £120 including VAT and can be ordered now.
