Whether mass commuting into London and other cities will ever return is a moot point, but there’s no doubt that electric bikes have many advantages over running a second car for many households. Here’s some news from Bikmo;
The specialist cycling insurer Bikmo has today announced that all customers who purchase an eBike with the e-mobility retailer, Pure Electric, can now access 14 days of cover completely free of charge. Cover includes theft and accidental damage, so customers can now ride away worry-free.
Pure Electric is a specialist electric mobility retailer, leading the UK’s electric micro mobility revolution. Formerly known as Pure Scooters, the high-street and online business made its name in electric scooters and has now moved to eBikes and wider e-mobility. Launched just under 2 years ago by entrepreneur and former Hargreaves Lansdown director, Adam Norris, Pure Electric’s goal is to make a positive impact on the way we all travel every day. Norris’ passion for game-changing technology is aiming to help tackle urban transport and climate problems by delivering fun, affordable and practical mobility solutions. The company has expanded rapidly this year, going from one high street store at the beginning of the year, to 13 now, with several more due to open soon.
As of today, customers who purchase any eBike from Pure Electric will receive 14 days free cover from Bikmo. This covers theft (even away from home) and accidental damage.
Riders have 7 days after purchasing their new eBike to redeem their free cover. No payment details are required to activate the policy and once expired it will not automatically renew.
Should riders choose to continue their cover and take out an annual policy with Bikmo, their cover will include many extra benefits such as cover for kit and accessories, and they will now benefit from a 25% lower premium over non-electric bikes. After a recent survey of over 3,000 riders in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Austria showed that 38% fewer insurance claims arose from riders on e-bikes compared with traditional bikes, Bikmo chose to take a stand and pass these risk savings onto customers by cutting premiums for eBikes riders across the board. This means Bikmo customers can now insure a £2,000 eBike in the UK from as little as £9 per month.
David George, CEO of Bikmo, commented: “We are thrilled to announce a brand new partnership with Pure Electric. Accelerated by a wave of new riders discovering a better way to move around during the Covid-19 lockdown, we firmly believe that eBikes will play a central role in the future of cycling and transportation in the UK.
Pure Electric is quickly becoming one of Europe’s biggest e-mobility retailers so we are proud to today announce that those who purchase an eBike with them will now be able to start riding straight away, safe in knowledge that they have 14 days free cover with Bikmo.”
Peter Kimberley, CEO of Pure Electric, added: “Being able to support our customers at every point of their buying journey, including post purchase – is hugely important to us at Pure Electric. We offer a wide range of eBikes from some of the world’s best brands and have in-store service teams to help customers look after their bikes; offering all customers that purchase an eBike with Pure Electric two weeks of extensive cover with the UK’s leading cycle insurer helps our customers to enjoy worry-free cycling.”
