Tokio Marine Singapore Hit By Ransomware Attack

Tokio Marine Singapore recently suffered a ransomware attack, here is the official statement from the company;

On 31 July 2021, some of Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore Ltd.’s (“TMiS”) internal Windows servers were targeted by ransomware and in response, our IT security systems were activated. The affected servers were isolated and immediate action was taken to recover the servers. None of TMiS’ core insurance operating systems were affected and our insurance operations functioned without interruptions.

We have conducted additional forensics investigations and testing. These are still ongoing. At this juncture, there is no indication of any loss of customer information or confidential information.

This incident did not affect our life insurance operations, Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd (“TMLS”), as they maintain different servers from TMiS. TMLS also took immediate action to screen their servers and adopted additional safeguards to prevent a similar occurrence.
