Birmingham-based broker, The Taxi Insurer, was ‘hailed’ a winner at the UK Broker Awards last night (11 November), taking home the trophy for the ‘Covid-19 Response’ category. Held as part of the Broker Expo event, at Coventry Building Society Arena, the awards name the best brokers in the UK and were hosted by broadcaster Colin Murray.
The Taxi Insurer’s entry focused on how the company changed its business model and operations to provide increased support to taxi drivers, whose livelihoods were immediately impacted by the pandemic and national lockdowns.
Rich Morley, Broking Director, collected the trophy at the awards and commented: “This is the first, hopefully, of many awards won by The Taxi Insurer. Last year was a difficult one, and the taxi industry was particularly hard hit. We adapted our offices with Covid-safe measures and remained open, in stark contrast to many competitors, who closed their doors.
“We were pleased to be able to move quickly to allow drivers to take on courier, food delivery or other transport related jobs at no additional cost. This helped many of our customers to diversify, continue working and keep their vehicles. This award is an important accolade in recognising how our staff worked quickly and creatively to help taxi businesses all over the country.”
