GP/Medical Staff Face High Premiums For Electric Cars

A new study has revealed that doctors and GPs pay the most for electric car insurance in the UK. The research was conducted by automotive experts, Vanarama, who used a consistent average driver criteria to analyse insurance quotes, with the only variable changing each time being the job description to see how much of an impact this had on the overall insurance cost.

The medical sector also had Nurse and Counsellor in the top ten most expensive quotes featured in the Vanarama survey, with Firefighter being on the list, plus Barrister. Bar Staff and Chefs also featured.

So which job titles produced the cheapest quotes on a pure EV car?

Vanarama’s research shows that design engineers are getting the best deal for electric car insurance in 2022, paying only £747.99 for an annual premium – almost £257 less than doctors and GPs who are being charged the most.

Overall, roles in the engineering sector are being quoted lower insurance premiums than any other sector, with six engineering roles in the top 10 lowest premiums. The only engineering title that didn’t feature was software engineer, though it still made it into the 25 lowest premiums.

The marketing sector has also fared well in the results, with all associated roles sitting in the 20 cheapest job titles.
