Motorcycle insurance specialist MCE has launched a new claims service called Biker Rescue.
The new service will look to help injured bikers recover lost earnings, get compensation for PI claims, plus repair their bike and provide a like-for-like replacement model, in size and type of machine – no more than two years old.
This is notoriously hard to do in the motorcycle market, where niche models can sometimes rack up just a few dozen sales per year in the UK. Anyone who thinks bikers riding a 10 year old, fully kitted up Moto Guzzi Stelvio will be happy riding a new Kawasaki Versys 1000 because it’s the same general size and type of bike, does not understand the market or its tribal nature. They actually want the Stelvio fixing and all the accessories replacing, or their cash value. Just saying.
The service is aimed at non-fault incidents and builds on MCE’s long history in the enthusiast market. After the collapse of MCE’s Gibraltar based underwriting operation, the brand has a long road ahead in terms of rebuilding trust, so anything to offer support to injured bikers has to be a good thing.
