MARKERSTUDY
Markerstudy Broking, the broker division of Markerstudy Group, has today welcomed James Astle as Head of Insurer Relations.
Reporting to Ross Barrington, Managing Director of Markerstudy Broking, James has over 30 years’ experience in the industry including roles at Ageas, Zurich and One Call.
The Markerstudy Broking division comprises a number of brands including Brightside Insurance and Insurance Factory – one of the UK’s largest insurance brokers – and James will be responsible for developing new and existing relationships as well as adding value to insurer partners.
Ross Barrington comments: “We’ve worked with James for a number of years and I’m delighted to welcome him to the team. Insurer relations has always been a key area for us and James has exciting plans to build and shape this space for us.”

WILLIS TOWERS WATSON
WTW (NASDAQ: WTW), a leading global advisory, broking and solutions company, today announces the recruitment of Blake Koen to join the company’s rapidly expanding energy team in Houston as managing director, global client advocate, natural resources for its North America business. In this role Koen will help to develop and execute the strategic direction of WTW’s energy business.
With more than 20 years’ experience in the energy liability market, Koen was a senior vice-president at Lockton in the North American energy team, having previously worked at Aon, Gallagher and Liberty Mutual. Koen was responsible for dealing with complex upstream and midstream companies and brings strong expertise in oil and gas segments.

ALLIANZ COMMERCIAL MOTOR
Allianz Insurance has appointed Ben Moore as commercial motor portfolio manager.
He will be responsible for the digital motor portfolio, with a focus on delivering profitable growth and strengthening the customer proposition. He will work closely with the Digital Trading teams to ensure that Allianz’s proposition continuously evolves to meet broker and customer needs.
Ben joined Allianz in 2015 on the commercial insurance graduate scheme before taking on the position of senior underwriter in the motor trade team. Since then he has held a number of roles including senior technical analyst, pricing and portfolio management workstream lead and executive assistant to the chief underwriting officer.
VIPR SOLUTIONS
Gregory J. Massey, a property/casualty insurance executive with nearly 40 years’ experience in commercial lines underwriting, has been named as the North American advisor for VIPR Solutions, a UK-based provider of software solutions for the insurance industry.
Massey recently retired from Zurich North America, where he served for 13 years in various senior roles, such as chief underwriting officer for commercial markets, senior vice president for property and casualty lines of business, and head of program business for middle markets, among other roles.
Prior to that, Massey spent 12 years as a commercial lines vice president for Selective Insurance Group. Before joining Selective, he held underwriting and management positions with Anthem Casualty and The Hartford. A graduate of the University of Denver, Greg also earned master’s degrees from the Keller Graduate School of Management in Chicago and Quinnipiac University.

She was previously Executive Director, Group Strategy and Planning at DBS, where she was involved in strategic projects such as Digital Exchange and Evolution X. Prior to that, Wei Lin served as a litigator with Rajah & Tann Asia focussing on banking disputes and restructuring.

WILLIS TOWERS WATSON ECOSYSTEM RESILIENCE
WTW (NASDAQ: WTW), a leading global advisory, broking and solutions company, has appointed Sarah Conway as Head of its award winning Ecosystem Resilience practice and Director in the Disaster Risk Finance / Parametrics unit within the company’s Climate and Resilience Hub (CRH).
Since 2018, the WTW Ecosystem Resilience practice has become a leader in the risk management and insurance of natural capital assets including multi-national insurance of the Mesoamerican Reef with the MAR Fund; catastrophe or “cat” wrapper for Belize’s blue bond issuance with TNC; and protection of coastal fisheries and livelihoods across the Pacific with Rare, WWF and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
Following an early career in fixed income and with over 15 years of experience in climate and conservation finance, Conway was Lead Climate Finance Negotiator for the U.S. delegation to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, including at COP21 in Paris. Also during her time at the U.S. Department of State, Conway supported U.S. involvement with the Green Climate Fund and GEF, and helped to design and launch the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance and the Pilot Auction Facility for Methane and Climate Change Mitigation.
Most recently, Conway ran her own consultancy, specialising in innovative climate and conservation finance solutions, including for systematic observations and early warning systems, climate-smart urban infrastructure, ecosystem conservation and livelihood protection working with leading international institutions.
