Known for ‘putting ‘the fun in insurance’, Markerstudy Group, which has headquarters in Bessels Green and offices around the country, including in Manchester and Peterborough, embraced comedy from 2001 with its annual ‘Markerstudy Day’, raising £9,733 for the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
Thousands of colleagues across the country, from Auto Windscreens in Chesterfield to Purely Pets in Portsmouth threw themselves into the spirit of the day and there were laughs aplenty as each location designed their own fun schedule which included virtual raffles and games, bake sales and even a charity rodeo!
Colleagues also donned their finest fancy dress in homage to the comedy stars reigning supreme in 2001, including Only Fools and Horses, Ab Fab and Bridget Jones and, for the budding comedians, ‘Markerstudy Fringe’ showcased their favourite jokes!
Lizzie Smith-Foreman, Director of Group Marketing, Communications and Sustainability, comments: “Markerstudy Day this year was focused on raising a smile at a time when we’re all facing so much uncertainty in the UK and there’s great sadness further afield. Our colleagues’ efforts to put the ‘fun’ into fundraising did not disappoint. The Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal has been supported by our group throughout the year so it felt right for the appeal to benefit from this annual event, too. Colleagues raised an incredible £4,733 from their activities and Markerstudy has also donated £5,000 as part of our charity initiative, Motiv8.”
Markerstudy has donated millions of pounds to charitable causes since it was founded in 2001. Benefactors of the funds include the Pickering Cancer Drop in Centre in Tunbridge Wells, Prostate Cancer UK and Operation Christmas Child. Colleagues are also encouraged to use their paid ‘volunteering day’ annually and may take up to five days unpaid leave to work for a charitable cause.
