Davies has announced the launch of its Insurance Skills Bootcamp to help attract talent to the insurance industry. Many brands have found it hard to attract new talent to the industry in recent years, although the insurtech boom and WFH has made it a more interesting option for many people. Sadly, this scheme is only available to unemployed people in London and is a reminder that the whole insurance industry is still far too London-centric.
Updated; Davies tell us that their pilot scheme will be rolled out across the UK and look forward to the public sector working as partners on this initiative too. For those living in other parts of the UK, many regional brokers also run apprenticeship schemes.
Here’s the word from Davies;
The first bootcamp launches on 28 November, and will develop budding learners on the insurance landscape, time management, rapport building, and presentation & interview skills, with the view to get a job in the industry after completing the ten-week programme. Fully funded by the Greater London Authority (GLA), Davies’ Insurance Skills Bootcamp is open to anyone aged 19+, who is currently unemployed and living in Greater London.
With many insurers finding it challenging to recruit and retain talent, Davies’ Insurance Skills Bootcamp has been designed to develop learners with the higher-level skills that the insurance community needs to meet its recruitment and talent requirements and provide individuals with the building blocks they need to achieve longterm success.
To develop learners’ insurance knowledge, Davies included two elementsfrom the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII); CII Foundation Insurance Test & CII IF1 – Principles of insurance as part of the bootcamp. Achievement of these two units will allow progression to a reduced duration Insurance Professional Level 4 apprenticeship, skipping the Level 3 Insurance Practitioner programme entirely.
Carolyn Blunt, Growth & Client Success Director, Davies, commented: “The bootcamp is an excellent opportunity for our insurer clients to access a pool of diverse talent to recruit into their apprenticeship programmes.”
