SOMPO

Sompo International, a leading global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty (re)insurance, today announced a new leadership team for its UK commercial P&C insurance business unit.

Bob Thaker has been named CEO, Commercial P&C Insurance, Sompo International, UK, reporting to Julian James, CEO, Global Markets for Sompo International. Ian Keegan will be responsible for the London Market Wholesale & Specialty division and Mike Reid will lead the UK Commercial Lines division. Both will report into Mr. Thaker.

Mr. Thaker has also been appointed CEO of Sompo International’s UK business legal entity and Mr. Keegan appointed as its CUO, subject to regulatory approval.

ZURICH

 Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich) has appointed Dirk De Nil, currently CEO Zurich Benelux and Nordics, to the role of Global Head of Zurich Resilience Solutions, effective October 1, 2023. Mr. De Nil succeeds Hanno Mijer, who is retiring at the beginning of October. He will relocate to Zurich, Switzerland, and report to Sierra Signorelli, CEO Commercial Insurance.

EARNIX

Earnix, a global provider of intelligent SaaS solutions for insurers and banks, has announced the appointment of Erez Barak to Chief Technology Officer (CTO) effective September 10. Erez will helm Earnix’s research and development (R&D) and analytics teams. He is a seasoned technology executive with more than 22 years of experience including leadership roles at tech giants Microsoft and HP.

His passion for solving business problems through innovative technologies and engaging product experiences is rooted in his diverse background, including cloud infrastructure, big data systems, AI systems, developer platforms, enterprise productivity and marketing systems. He has held engineering and product roles at Optify (acquired by Marketo), and Mercury Interactive. Most recently, Erez was General Manager and Vice President of Engineering at Sumo Logic, a machine data analytics, operations, and business intelligence company.

NOVATUS GLOBAL

Novatus Global, the risk and regulation consultancy and technology solution provider, is pleased to announce the appointment of Bill Michael as Head of Strategy and member of the Board. Bill brings over 35 years of unparalleled experience in financial services across capital markets, corporate banking and regulation as well as extensive advisory expertise. ALLIANZ

Allianz Holdings has announced the appointment of Henry Topham as the new managing director of its UK Retail business, following the recent news that Heather Smith will be leaving the business to take up a new opportunity. Henry will start on 1 October 2023 and report to Serge Raffard, managing director of Allianz Personal Lines.

Henry has been with Allianz since December 2016 and is currently the managing director of Britannia Rescue and Flow. In his time at the company, he has successfully led the development and execution of the company’s strategy for both its breakdown business and also digital-only insurance product, Flow. Prior to joining Allianz, Henry worked at a number of other companies including Aviva and Direct Line Group.

INSTANDA

INSTANDA, the global provider of no-code insurance platform technology, has appointed Kevin Gaut as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). With over 25 years in senior technology leadership roles spanning UK, US and Asia across both Insurance and Financial Services, most recently as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Finova and previously at SSP and Legal & General, Kevin brings a wealth of expertise and experience to INSTANDA.

In his capacity as CTO, he will drive the platform and ecosystem strategy for the Group, leverage the INSTANDA future proofed architecture for client value and seek to shift industry opinion around value drivers of no-code over low code. Kevin’s primary responsibilities will include working closely with existing and prospective clients to identify new and exciting growth opportunities within the insurance technology market using the INSTANDA platform.

HF Solicitors (formerly Horwich Farrelly) have appointed Jennette Newman as Partner & Head of London Markets.

With over 25 years of experience in the legal and insurance sector, she is a UK and international casualty lawyer.  Her broad experience covers claims, defence litigation and coverage, advising insurers, reinsurers, intermediaries, corporates, and other risk carriers on all aspects of their claims, investigation process, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

She has a wealth of experience dealing with highly sensitive multi-party, multi-jurisdictional, high-value and complex claims including catastrophic injuries and major incidents and disasters. Jennette’s leadership skills include a track record of delivering operational transformation, business innovation and the development of successful teams as well as excellence in client service delivery.

She is also a Non Executive Director of the CII and an Alderman of the City of London for Walbrook Ward.

PLIXER

Plixer, the global Network Detection and Response (NDR) cybersecurity platform, today announced the appointment of Tom McNamara as its new Chief Executive Officer. WTW

WTW (NASDAQ: WTW), a leading global advisory, broking and solutions company, today announced the appointment of Gaby Joyner as Head of Great Britain at WTW. Gaby’s appointment to the role follows John Ball’s retirement from the firm in August 2023.

Gaby Joyner, who has been with the company for 23 years, is Head of WTW’s Employee Experience business for Europe, a role that she will continue in while taking on additional responsibilities as Head of Great Britain. In her new role, Gaby will represent WTW externally at a corporate level in addition to supporting GB business leaders and colleagues in the growth and retention of key clients and prospects.

MAXIS GBN

MAXIS Global Benefits Network (MAXIS GBN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Suzanna Hicks and Nathan Dewhurst as Member Managers, supporting the network’s local insurers (members) across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions. Suzanna and Nathan join Rebeca Kinloch, Member Manager for the Americas region, and Brian Park, Member Manager for Asia-Pacific (APAC), to complete the Member Management team.

Suzanna joined MAXIS GBN in July 2023. Prior to this, she spent five years at AXA Health, where she was a Care Coordination Pathway Manager, with her responsibilities including change management, project management, third party relationship management, auditing, people management, and more.

Nathan joined MAXIS GBN as a Member Manager in August 2023, having previously worked at the company from 2019-22 as a Multinational Account Manager in the UK & Ireland Business Development team. In between these positions, Nathan gained further employee benefits experience working for Aon as a Broker Consultant in its Global Coordination team. He will be responsible for our members across continental Europe.
