Hedron Awards 2023: Broker Excellence in Focus

Some broker recognition news for you;

The winners have been announced for this year’s Hedron Awards, with Macbeth named Broker of the Year and Allianz taking home the Insurer of the Year prize.

The 2023 Hedron Awards took place on 5th October at the Hedron Broker Forum in Portugal, with a gala dinner and awards ceremony as part of the overall event. This year, a new category of Specialist Market of the Year was introduced, to recognise those markets supporting brokers with solutions and expertise in very specific areas/disciplines.

“This is the second year we’ve run the Awards as Hedron, and they remain a very important part of recognising both broker excellence, and the value partner brokers place on good insurer and provider relationships,” said Duncan Pagan, Consultancy Services Director.

Broker of the Year was awarded to Macbeth Insurance Brokers, and received by CEO Paul Macbeth and Managing Director Ben Butler.

Broker of the Year is nominated and voted entirely by the Hedron insurer panel, and is based on quality of trading relationship, communications and presentations, commercial performance, and positive engagement and support overall from that broker. Over forty Hedron partner brokers were initially nominated for the Award, making it the hardest fought of the night.

Start-Up Broker of the Year went to Squared Insurance Brokers, who were directly authorised in August 2022.

RISING STARS

There were two wins for Squared Insurance Brokers, with Jamie Buchanan, Client Manager at Squared, named Rising Star 2023, in a tightly fought category with excellent nominations from across the Hedron community. Jamie, who was also shortlisted for BIBA’s Young Broker of the Year, was described in the nomination by Squared as being a great asset not only to the business, but to the wider insurance industry.

Broker Initiative of the Year was won by All Med Pro, whose innovative approach to increasing renewal retention and streamlining both their underwriting and administrative processes received high praise from the judges.

Insurer of the Year went to Allianz, a result determined entirely by votes from Hedron partner brokers. Brokers were asked to rate their experience with the Hedron panel insurers overall in the past 12 months. The wider 2023 Insurer Survey results will be shared with panel insurers and the partner broker community in the coming weeks.

CFC Underwriting were named Specialist Market of the Year, receiving the highest number of top-ranking nominations from the partner brokers. The award was received by James McNamara, UK Distribution Leader, and Joe Tracey, UK Cyber Development Manager.

Provider of the Year went to Digital NRG, who received an impressive number of top-ranked nominations from the Hedron broker community. Neil Rogers, CEO, and Jack Roebuck, COO, accepted the award.

“We saw an excellent range and quality of entries this year, and all worthy winners. It’s vital that we continue to celebrate the success of the Network both as individual businesses and in the way we work with one another as a community,” said Chris Haggart, CEO at Hedron Network.
