We just have time for one more Job Moves round up before Chrsitmas, so here goes;

BEAZLEY

Beazley, the specialty insurer, has named Patricia Kocsondy as Head of Global Cyber Digital Risks. Ms Kocsondy will be responsible for setting the global product and distribution strategy for all of Beazley’s cyber business sub $250million. The role reports to Paul Bantick, Global Head of Cyber Risks and is effective 1 January 2024.

This new role will ensure Beazley’s products and services are tailored to the specific needs of the sub $250 million segment of companies in an easily accessible and highly digitised way. By bringing together the expertise that serves high-touch, large business cyber risks and the digitisation excellence that Beazley’s Digital division delivers we will offer a seamless service to this important segment of businesses. This will benefit Beazley’s broker partners, helping facilitate growth, whilst improving access to Beazley’s well regarded cyber ecosystem which offers, before, during and after support against cyber attacks.

Ms Kocsondy is currently Head of US Cyber and Technology, a role she has held since 2021, having built a distinguished career as a cyber underwriter for more than a decade. The search for her replacement as Head of US Cyber and Technology will start immediately.

DAVIES CONSULTING

Davies – Consulting Division, formerly known as Sionic, announces the appointment of Eoin Gill as Global Relationship Manager and Partner, as it continues to build momentum as the leading consultancy focused on the financial services sector.

Eoin joins Davies with over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector. Most recently, Eoin served as a Managing Director at BNY Mellon within its asset servicing and digital business, leading teams responsible for some of the bank’s largest and most sophisticated client relationships. His previous experience also included various roles at the private banking firm of Brown Brothers Harriman. Eoin will leverage his considerable experience in working with complex clients and a deep knowledge of the financial services sector managing some of Davies’ most strategic clients.

Eoin will be key to continuing to enrich client relationships and will focus on highlighting the value of complementary services to ensure clients benefit from the most impactful advice. Carrying over two decades of experience, Eoin will bring further macro-expertise to Davies as it continues to grow its offering.

GALLAGHER

Gallagher has announced that Michael Rea has been appointed CEO of the company’s UK broking and underwriting business, subject to regulatory approval. In his new role, Michael will lead Gallagher’s 6,000-strong UK colleagues and oversee its UK-based Retail, Specialty and Underwriting operations.

Michael joined Gallagher in 2015 as COO of its International division and quickly became CEO of Gallagher’s UK & Ireland Retail division in 2016. During his tenure, Michael has overseen a period of sustained organic growth and ongoing expansion through strategic M&A activity for the division.

Gallagher is now one of the UK’s largest retail insurance broking businesses with over 4,000 colleagues looking after the risk management and insurance needs of over one million commercial organisations and individuals across the UK and Ireland.  The Specialty business works with large multinationals and insurance brokers worldwide, providing bespoke programme design, risk placement and consulting support across a range of industries. Pen Underwriting is a multi-class, multi-territory managing general agent (MGA).

The CEOs of Specialty, Jonathan Turner, and Pen Underwriting, Tom Downey will report to Michael and form part of his UK leadership team. Ian Kerton, CEO of Gallagher Re in the UK, will maintain his existing reporting line to the global Gallagher Re CEO, Tom Wakefield, and will report to Michael in respect of UK regulated business.

MARSH

Marsh has announced a series of senior appointments across its UK and Global Placement leadership team, effective 1 January, 2024.

Tom Davies (above) is appointed as Placement Leader, UK, reporting to John Donnelly, Global Head of Placement, Marsh, and Chris Lay, CEO, Marsh McLennan UK. Based in London, Mr. Davies will work closely with Marsh’s Global Placement leadership to continue to develop placement solutions that challenge the insurance market to meet the evolving needs of clients. He will continue to be a member of the Global Placement Executive Committee and will join Marsh’s UK Executive Committee.

One of Marsh’s most experienced placement leaders, Mr. Davies is currently Global CEO of Bowring Marsh, Marsh’s international placement business. He brings over 30 years’ experience of retail, and wholesale broking to the role, having started his career with Marsh in 1989.

Adam Russell is appointed to the newly created role of Strategy & Planning Leader, Global Placement, reporting to Mr. Donnelly and Kevin Meszaros, Global Data & Strategy Leader, Marsh Specialty and Global Placement. Based in London, Mr. Russell will support Mr. Donnelly in bringing together Marsh’s global placement and digital expertise to enhance the client experience through innovation. 

Winsee Cheung is appointed as Portfolio Solutions Leader, UK, reporting to Mr. Davies. Based in London, Ms. Cheung will have responsibility for leading Marsh Portfolio Solutions, as well as the facilities and line slips placed by Marsh Specialty in the UK. She will work with the business to identify and design new portfolio solutions that add value to clients in the changing risk landscape.  

Jason Mills is appointed as Placement Leader, Marsh Specialty UK, reporting to Mr. Davies and Dominic Samengo-Turner, CEO, Marsh Specialty, UK. Based in London, Mr. Mills’ responsibilities will include designing and implementing the placement strategy across Marsh Specialty within the UK. 

SKY PROTECT

Sky announces that Paul Sweeney (above) has been appointed as Managing Director, Sky Protect, subject to regulatory approval.

Paul will be responsible for leading Sky Protect’s team and strategy, delivering against its aim to simplify home insurance by providing great value, smart technology, and an outstanding customer experience. Paul moves into the role from Sky Mobile where he’s been Managing Director since 2019, driving its expansion as the fastest growing mobile provider in the UK with over 3 million customers. Before that, he was Chief Marketing Officer for Sky’s streaming arm, NOW TV. He also spent 18 years at Procter & Gamble, working across household names such as Pringles and Pantene in the UK, US, and Geneva.

Paul takes over the position from Matt Poll, who has decided to move to the role of Non-Executive Chair, NEOS. Matt successfully led the transition of NEOS into Sky, following Sky’s acquisition of NEOS in 2021, and led the launch of Sky Protect, Sky’s first ever insurance product and smart home insurance proposition.  He has built a strong team underneath him, embedding real insurance expertise into Sky, and we’re very pleased with how Sky Protect is performing.

Matt has been supporting Sky and Paul in working through Paul’s transition to MD, including the regulatory approval process.  We’re delighted to continue to work with Matt in his new capacity as Non-Executive Chair of NEOS.

CII 

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) announces the appointment of two new Vice Presidents (International), Enas Asiri and Suresh Nair. Both will support the international work of the CII, strengthening the member experience of those based outside the UK, as well developing the range of products and services to build public trust in the insurance and financial planning professions in markets across the world.

Chartered Insurer Enas Asiri joined Bahrain National Life Assurance (BNL) in September 2017. Enas is a long-standing member of the CII and became a Fellow (FCII) in 2015. She also holds an MBA from Strathclyde University.

Prior to joining BNL, Enas was the Head of the Life and Medical Operations at the Arab Insurance Group (ARIG), where she initially started her career in insurance in 2007, as part of ARIG’s prestigious Graduate Development Programme. In addition to her responsibilities in risk management and business development, Enas also delivered insurance training courses at the Bahrain Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (BIBF).

Suresh Nair has been in the insurance industry for over three decades. He is currently Executive Director at Gargash Insurance Services based in Dubai. Suresh started his insurance career at the National Insurance Company in India, before moving to the Oman National Insurance Company in Muscat and then relocating to Dubai.

Suresh is also a Fellow of the CII and holds an MBA, as well as Fellowship with the Insurance Institute of India. Suresh has regularly contributed to thought leadership articles on insurance and risk management in the trade press, and presented papers at conferences and seminars in insurance. He has also operated as a Goodwill Ambassador for the CII in recent years.

GRI

Jessica Fries, Chief Executive of Accounting for Sustainability (A4S), has beenappointed as the new Chair of the GRI Supervisory Board effective 1 January 2024, and will lead the governance body responsible for the organization’s long-term priorities and strategy.  

First joining the Board in 2019, Jessica became Vice-Chair two years ago. She takes over as Chair from Jack Ehnes (former CEO of CalSTRS) who is stepping down from the Supervisory Board after five years’ service, including two as Chair. Furthermore, current Board Member Bola Adeeko (Director of Special Projects, Flour Mills of Nigeria plc) will be the new Vice-Chair.  

Under a two-tier structure, the Supervisory Board oversees and advises the GRI Management Board, which leads on operational policy and management. Multi-stakeholder and globally diverse representation underpins the Supervisory Board’s authority in guiding the work of GRI, the provider of the world’s most widely used sustainability reporting standards.  

ALLIANZ COMMERCIAL

Allianz Commercial announces the appointment of Sharanjit Chaggar as Head of Financial Lines for Large-Corp and Specialty in the UK.  Sharanjit will join in April 2024 and report to Nadia Cote, Commercial Managing Director UK.

In this role, Sharanjit will lead Allianz Commercial’s UK Financial Lines business, covering Directors & Officers (D&O), Financial Institutions, Professional Indemnity [and Cyber] across the large-corp and specialty segments.

With over 20 years of international experience in the insurance industry, Sharanjit has held leadership positions in London, Singapore, Auckland and Miami. She joins Allianz Commercial from Marsh where she was most recently Senior Vice President, FINPRO Asia D&O Leader.  Over the course of her career she has held an array of roles of increasing seniority across the insurance industry on both broker and carrier sides.

ASCOT GROUP

Ascot Group recently announced the appointment of David Larson to U.S. Head of Loss Control & Risk Management services, effective December 12. David is based in the company’s Iselin, New Jersey office, reporting to Elizabeth Johnson, Chief Operating Officer, North America.

In this role, David will be responsible for developing and launching a modern-era loss control and risk management program at Ascot to support the company’s clients as they navigate a complex and changing risk landscape. The team will also drive internal enhancements and efficiencies by informing underwriting evaluations and risk selections across Ascot’s various underwriting units through loss trend data and analysis.

“We understand that providing our insureds with financial protection is just one part of a comprehensive, client-centric insurance program,” said Johnson. “A proactive and bespoke loss control plan is a highly valued differentiator that we can bring to our clients – particularly those in Ascot’s newly launched Captive Solutions business and our thriving Workers’ Compensation capabilities – to support both their risk management goals, and, critically, their employee safety initiatives.”

SIGMA CONNECTED

Sigma Connected US LLC has appointed John Moody as Vice President of Collections and Recoveries, he will be focusing on business development, sales and growing Sigma Connected’s client base in the US. John will report into the Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ben Jones.

Ben Jones said: “Launching Sigma Connected into the US market is the next natural step in our global expansion and follows our 2021 move into Australia. We are already in the process of onboarding two new US clients and we are building on that by hiring John who, as an industry expert, fully understands the debt collection market and the solutions organisations need to overcome their challenges.”

AUDATEX

Tom Hart has been promoted to claims sales director UK & Ireland at Audatex.

Tom is a local market expert and a specialist in understanding the claims ecosystem. In his previous role as head of account management, Tom successfully managed and led a strategic customer-facing team for almost five years. Tom’s new role as director will see him utilising the skills and expertise he has amassed in recent years to elevate the Audatex claims offering and further develop the claims sales team to assist the business with its strategic expansion plans.

Over the past 18 months, Tom was responsible for successfully appointing and developing a new national account management team capable of providing a broad spectrum of expertise, including parts, engineering and insurer operations.

SOMPO INTERNATIONAL

Sompo International announces the appointment of Stephen Barr as Head of Marine & Energy Liability Insurance, London Market. He will be based in London and report into Paul Ashworth, Head of Aviation, Energy and Marine, London Market.

Mr. Ashworth said, “Sompo International’s marine and energy insurance capability is well established and a cornerstone of our offering in the London specialty market. With the continued expansion of our UK business, in support of the company’s overall growth strategy, Stephen’s depth of experience and insight will be an asset as we engage in new opportunities and further develop bespoke solutions for our broker partners’ and clients’ evolving needs.”

Mr. Barr joins Sompo International from CNA/Hardy, where he was European Head of Marine Insurance. He has previously worked as both an underwriter and a broker with Talbot, Hiscox and Sedgwick. In 2022 he was appointed as vice chair of the International Union of Marine Insurance’s executive committee.
