Markerstudy Reflects on Sustainability Progress in 2023

Some ESG news from Markerstudy as they look back on a busy year;

Markerstudy Group (Markerstudy) has released its Sustainability Report 2023 to highlight its activities in the areas of environment, social responsibility and governance.

“Markerstudy celebrated key achievements in 2023,” said Lizzie Smith-Foreman, Markerstudy’s chief marketing, communications and sustainability officer. “In total, we donated more than £250,000 to good causes, over 1,250 of our colleagues spent more than 5,500 hours volunteering, and our Charity Hackathon supported charity partners AVUK, Future First and Little Miracles.”

The Group built on the success of the Charity Hackathon with its inaugural Insight Day, an event dedicated to supporting education charity Future First, which welcomed students from Jack Hunt School to Markerstudy’s Peterborough office for a day of career-focused activities.

Markerstudy’s fundraising activities saw its Charity Challenge raise £25,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, while the Fundraiser Week resulted in more than £10,000 being donated to several charities.

Last year, Markerstudy took a major step on the road to its objective of being net zero by 2045 by committing to set science-based greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets aligned with criteria set out by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) within two years. The Group also delivered internal carbon education training to its Net Zero Heroes, volunteer carbon champions from across Markerstudy who lead waste reduction and energy efficiency initiatives. To support the Group’s environmental initiatives, more than 450 colleagues spent over 1,000 hours volunteering to create greener, cleaner communities through litter picking initiatives.
