Compass Launches Beach Hut & Chalet Product

The word from Compass as they offer a product that covers beach huts and chalets, here are the details;

As trips to the seaside continue to be a popular choice for UK holidaymakers, Compass, a specialist provider of caravan and leisure insurance, has launched a new policy offering cover for beach huts and beach chalets.

Synonymous with the UK seaside, beach huts remained popular for families this summer. Compass recognises the unique insurance needs of this niche market, with the newly introduced policy offering comprehensive coverage and peace of mind to beach hut owners throughout the UK. Its key features are:

  • No excess to pay should you need to make a claim

  • Automatic 20% of rebuild cost for contents cover

  • 10% discount for members of beach hut associations

  • Cover for loss of rent and license fees in the event of damage to the hut

Compass’s beach hut insurance policy protects against a wide range of risks and incidents typically associated with beachfront properties, including damage incurred as a result of storms, floods, fire, theft, vandalism or malicious damage. There is also public liability for accidental death, bodily injury, illness or disease to any person, as well as cover for any accidental damage to the property.

The new policy coincides with recent research undertaken by Compass revealing that almost a third (29%) of people are interested in owning a beach hut in the UK. However, 37% of individuals who own or want to purchase a beach hut say pricing is the most significant consideration. With the average price of a beach hut currently £49,290, having a suitable insurance policy in place to protect this investment is crucial.2

The research also revealed that 22% of people are concerned about theft or damage to their beach hut caused by fire, vandalism, storms or floods when the property is unoccupied. Fortunately, the new beach hut insurance policy from Compass provides cover against all of these circumstances.

Karen Stacey, Managing Director, Compass explains:  “At Compass, we’re aware of how demand for beach huts has grown throughout the UK, especially in prime seaside locations such as East Sussex, Yorkshire, Dorset, and Cornwall. Beach huts are not just somewhere to enjoy sunny days with friends and family, they are also a great investment, which means protecting them is paramount.

“We’ve introduced our new policy to ensure that should anyone experience damage to their beach hut, help is at hand to get their property repaired and restored as soon as possible. We currently have 164 resort locations listed across the UK, while we also take note of any Resort Council and Beach Hut Association membership when quoting a policy.

“By taking out suitable insurance, beach hut and beach chalet owners will be covered in the unfortunate event of flood, storm or sea damage, as well as theft or vandalism. So, whether you are using your beach hut in person or renting it out to others, you can rest assured, safe in the knowledge that your property is covered.”
