Some feedback from HDI Global on a meeting earlier this month;
On December 12, 2024, the foundation meeting of the OPEN RISK DATA Association e.V. (formerly RD-X) took place. The association brings together key market players of industrial insurance in the DACH region. Based on a shared vision of brokers, insurers, and companies, it aims to implement a neutral, non-profit solution for the exchange of risk data.
The OPEN RISK DATA Association is intended to enable the digital exchange of risk data in the German and international industrial insurance market. Among the participants are leading brokers, insurers, industrial companies represented by the GVNW e.V., as well as Synpulse as a service provider and coordinator of the initiative. The association aims to create efficiencies in dealing with unstructured data from complex risks. Its members should benefit from scalability, an optimised basis for decision-making, and cost efficiency.
Dr Edgar Puls, Chairman of HDI Global SE Executive Board, as well as Member of the Board of Talanx AG and HDI V.a.G., explains: “We are pleased that the initiative has now taken the formal step of establishment and would like to thank the GVNW in particular for the initiative and coordination. We are convinced that the OPEN RISK DATA Association e.V. will play an important role in the digitalisation of industrial insurance across the market. That’s why we’ve been committed from the very beginning. With the founding of a non-profit organisation, the market has now laid the foundation to shape the digital future collectively.”
Dr Thomas Kuhnt, Member of the HDI Global SE Executive Board (COO), responsible for IT and Operations, says: “With the establishment of the OPEN RISK DATA Association e.V., we have the opportunity to create an ecosystem that will sustainably increase the efficiency of processes within the industrial insurance sector. It is important to have a precise understanding of the problem and an appropriate approach to a solution during digitalisation. Above all, however, it is essential to gather around a table and tackle the digitalisation of our industry together. I am looking forward to the first technical pilots of the association.”
Dr Dirk Schilling, Head of Guidance & Captives Services HDI Global SE and board member of the OPEN RISK DATA Association e.V., adds: “Over the past 1.5 years, we have worked intensively, built trust amongst our members, and developed a common understanding. Now, it’s time to translate this momentum into technical development and make the vision come to life. I am looking forward to the next scaling steps of this pioneering project.”
