Global claims services provider McLarens has retained its Planet Mark Business Certification for the second consecutive year, recognising the business’ efforts in carbon footprint measurement and reduction, and underlining its commitment to sustainability. The firm has also unveiled its first ever Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Impact Report, highlighting McLarens’ approach and positive impact on people, community, environment and governance.
Planet Mark is an internationally recognised leader in net zero certification, with 12+ years of experience in helping businesses of all sizes to reduce emissions, secure net zero targets, and generate long-term business value. Officially recognised by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), as a Cooperative Climate Initiative. Planet Mark is a partner of the UN High-level Climate Champions, its process and mark is recognised by government and business standards, driving assurance in sustainable progress.
To retain Planet Mark Certification, members must demonstrate continuous improvement in accordance with the Planet Mark Net Zero Certification Scheme Rules. McLarens reduced its Scope 1 and 2 emissions (market-based emissions) by 12.7% and has also committed to expanding its measurement boundary to its entire carbon footprint, including all material Scope 3 emissions (indirect emissions that occur outside an organisation’s direct control, for example in its supply chain).
McLarens, which has over 2500 staff operating across the globe, has committed to achieving net zero by 2050 or earlier. This involves a comprehensive carbon reduction strategy that includes reducing emissions through efficiency improvements (offices and travel), adopting renewable energy where available, and implementing sustainable practices (including in procurement and supply chain) across all operations.
Coinciding with its Planet Mark Certification, McLarens has also published its first ESG Impact Report. The report showcases results across the key areas of environment, people, community and governance. Initiatives include its annual paid Day of Service, enabling over 20,000 hours of volunteering globally, as well as global policies and reporting on ethics, supplier code of conduct, gender pay, diversity, equity and inclusion.
Liz Tubb, Group General Counsel and Head of McLarens’ Sustainability Committee: “Becoming more sustainable takes time, commitment and resources. And we understand that being more sustainable is not only good for the planet and our people, but also makes good financial and reputational business sense.
“At McLarens we also seek opportunities to increase community well-being and broaden our understanding of and commitment to diversity ensuring we remain an inclusive employer. This is why we decided to publish our first ever ESG Impact Report.”
Steve Malkin, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Planet Mark, commented: “I am proud that we have been able to certify McLarens as a trusted and committed partner in driving meaningful carbon reduction. Their committed approach to sustainability demonstrates not only a dedication to reducing their environmental impact, but also a leadership role in setting new standards for the loss adjusting industry. Together, we are building a better, more sustainable future.”
