Job Moves and Senior Hires 27.05.2025

Here is the latest round-up of job moves announcements;

CHAUCER GROUP

Chaucer Group (‘Chaucer’), the global specialty (re)insurance group, today announces the appointment of Jordan Ray as Head of Renewable Energy and Energy Transition, effective immediately. Ray will be based in London and report to Simon Schnorr, Head of Marine and Energy.

In close collaboration with Schnorr, Ray will spearhead the development of Chaucer’s underwriting strategy for the renewables energy portfolio, while also managing her team. Additionally, within the energy team she will drive strategic initiatives and deliver cross-class solutions to support clients’ energy transition goals.

HEDRON NETWORK

Hedron Network, the network business for Brown & Brown (Europe) Ltd, has appointed Chris Welch Operations Director. Welch will report to Hedron CEO Chris Haggart and his role is effective immediately.

His is an internal appointment; Welch was previously in Brown & Brown’s Retail division in a similar role, then moved across to Hedron on a temporary basis to oversee major change projects as the network continues to evolve and move forward from its previous incarnation under the ownership of Marsh.

Commenting on his appointment, Chris Welch said: “Hedron is actively seeking to strengthen its market position as the ‘modern network,’ where our brokers see us a fully engaged partner, not just a provider of access to product and markets.”

MCLARENS

Global claims services provider McLarens has strengthened its Executive C-suite with the appointment of Shoukat Ali Bhamani to the newly created global role of Chief Information Officer (CIO). Shoukat will join McLarens’ Global Management Team (GMT) and report directly to CEO, Gary Brown.

Shoukat will be responsible for defining and delivering McLarens’ IT strategy, ensuring alignment with the firm’s ambitious growth objectives. He will oversee the global IT organisation, focusing on strengthening ERP systems, enhancing data infrastructure, and advancing the company’s analytics capabilities. A key priority will be driving operational resilience and supporting the delivery of superior client outcomes through innovative technology and data solutions.

IAP

 Insurance Advisory Partners (IAP), the boutique investment bank focussed exclusively on the insurance, insurance services and the insurtech industry, announces the appointment of industry veteran and statesman Joe Plumeri to the newly created role of Chairman, effective September 1, 2025.

Globally recognised as an exceptional leader and industry visionary, Plumeri will add considerable momentum to the fast-growing business, further enhancing the firm’s ability to successfully compete with major investment banks and advisory firms across the globe. He will also become an investor in the company.

TOKIO MARINE

Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI), a member of the Tokio Marine HCC group of companies based in Houston, Texas, has announced the appointment of Claire Spiteri to Senior Underwriter, Professional Risks. Based in Manchester, Claire will report to Frances Eaton, Underwriting Manager, Professional Risks North.

Claire joins from AIG, where she served as a Senior Professional Indemnity Underwriter, specialising in professional services, construction, engineering and media. At TMHCCI, Claire will be responsible for supporting the growth of the Professional Risks team’s professional indemnity and management liability books. She will also focus on establishing and developing relationships with key brokers and clients.

DESCARTES UNDERWRITING

Descartes Underwriting, world leader in corporate parametric insurance solutions for climate, cyber, and emerging risks, announces two senior appointments to drive operations and claims. The strategic appointments will underpin broker and client service by further enhancing Descartes’ efficiency and quality during a period of rapid growth driven by global demand for science-based risk transfer.

• Sophie Bassoulet joins as Head of Operations. She brings more than ten years’ experience in operations management and business consulting, having spent the past years as Operations Manager at French healthtech insurer Alan after a career at McKinsey and AXA Global Direct in France and Morocco. Sophie will lead Descartes’ operations team as the company’s portfolio and product range grow. She reports to Chief Operating Officer Violaine Raybaud.

• Kelly Collet-Jones (ABOVE) joins as Claims Manager. She spent more than a decade at Chubb in various claims management roles, after six years at loss adjuster Cunningham Lindsey France. Kelly will work closely with Descartes’ insurance partners to build sustainable claims processes, foster strong relationships with brokers, and deliver technical claims expertise across the Descartes Group. She too will report to Chief Operating Officer Violaine Raybaud.

QUANDRI

 Quandri, the AI platform modernizing personal lines renewals for insurance agencies, recently announced the appointment of Patrick Mulroy as Head of Strategy and Partnerships. With more than 15 years of experience in the insurance and tech industries, Patrick will play a critical role in driving Quandri’s expansion across North America, including opening the insurtech company’s first U.S. office in Boston and unlocking new growth opportunities via strategic partnerships.

As Head of Strategy and Partnerships, Patrick will be focused on driving growth through partnership channels, along with key customer and carrier relationships. He’ll lead go-to-market execution for indirect sales and drive long-term value by embedding Quandri deeper into the workflows of agents, carriers, and platforms.

DUCK CREEK

Duck Creek Technologies, the global intelligent solutions provider defining the future of property and casualty (P&C) and general insurance, announces the appointment of Tyler Jones as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). As CMO, Jones will be responsible for overseeing Duck Creek’s strategic marketing and branding efforts, driving the company’s global expansion and leadership as a provider of P&C insurance software and services.

“Tyler is a seasoned marketer and leader who understands how to deliver value to our customers and partner ecosystem,” said Mike Jackowski, Chief Executive Officer of Duck Creek Technologies. “He has a wealth of experience building and scaling world-class marketing organizations for cloud-based software companies.  CADWALADAR

Cadwalader has added Rebecca Crowley, a leading lawyer in the infrastructure and core-plus infrastructure sector, as a partner in the firm’s London office.
