East Midlands-based chartered insurance broker Russell Scanlan (An Acrisure UK business) has been appointed by a leading manufacturer A-Chem, to its existing commercial insurance policies.
The insurance broker, which has operated from Nottingham for more than 144 years, is supporting one of the country’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of water and solvent-based products to match its risks to the right cover. This comes as British manufacturers continue to navigate a variety of economic challenges that threaten profitability.
The partnership began after the broker was recommended to Alfreton-based A-Chem by an existing client. Spearheaded by Russell Scanlan Director Matt Franklin, the insurance broker was able to strike up a strong relationship, which ultimately led to its appointment to A-Chem’s existing policies this summer.
Matt and the team were able to swiftly pick up the renewals process with A-Chem’s current insurers, as well as looking at potential alternatives which could be a better fit for the business. The result was fully comprehensive insurance, covering all aspects of the organisation from its buildings and contents, stock, machinery and product recall through to its public and employee liability.
Matt commented: “There are many challenges facing manufacturers currently, with skills shortages, rising costs and supply chain disruptions – all of which can impact productivity and fundamentally, a company’s bottom line.
“Insurance renewals can add to this uncertainty, particularly if you’re a business that operates in niche sectors and faces unique risks. Often, an off-the-shelf insurance policy won’t provide the necessary cover, and inadequate risk management can be a financial burden. Some policies will not include coverage for chemical usage, for example, which is a fundamental part of its operations.
“Recognising these challenges, we were able to ensure A-Chem was well supported throughout its insurance renewal, with clear communication and transparency from our team, which has continued well after the process was complete.”
Established in 1965, A-Chem offers liquid solutions for a variety of industries and markets, producing and supplying a range of products used for car care, wood care, industrial cleaning, janitorial cleaning and odour control. It also offers bespoke manufacturing for sectors including, but not limited to, aerospace and marine.
Ashleigh Noon, Director at A-Chem, added: “We came to Russell Scanlan in need of clarity, transparency and trust from our insurance broker, and the team has not disappointed.
“We’ve appreciated their ability to help us cut through the noise and complexities of the renewal process, presenting the information in a digestible way and giving us the confidence and peace of mind that our business has the right cover in place. To make sure we’re operating efficiently and productively, this cover is essential.”
Russell Scanlan has operated in Nottingham for more than 144 years, offering insurance and risk management services to businesses throughout the UK. For industry in the East Midlands, Russell Scanlan’s experience spans its entire tenure, with early company records suggesting it provided insurance solutions to Boots the Chemist.
