New Tech Partnership Should Improve Risk & Cat Modelling

One of the great benefits of tech, particularly AI analysis of raw data, is in the field of risk modelling. Understanding likely scenarios, costing the assets in the path of natural weather events, assessing the impact of supply chain disruption and so on, can all be modelled more effectively. Quantum computing power should accelerate this trend in the future. Here’s the word;

ICEYE, the global leader in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite data and natural catastrophe solutions, and Risk Management Partners – a unit of Munich Re, leveraging world-class reinsurance heritage to deliver advanced climate risk insights via Location Risk Intelligence, have announced a new strategic global partnership to expand access to ICEYE’s natural catastrophe solutions.

Through this collaboration, ICEYE’s flood solutions will be integrated into Location Risk Intelligence Platform, which empowers companies to assess and manage risks associated with natural hazards and climate change.

The integration strengthens the platform’s real-time flood risk analysis and reporting capabilities before, during, and after events. Access to ICEYE’s cutting-edge data via a market-leading risk management platform enables insurers, banks, real estate managers, and corporations worldwide to better assess and quantify flood impact, and supports faster, data-driven decision-making.

From January 2026, ICEYE’s Flood Archive and Flood Early Warning solutions will be available via the Events feature of Location Risk Intelligence. The Events feature enables users to monitor historical and ongoing events, using a combination of public domain information and vendor data.

ICEYE will be the first commercial provider to supply precise event data to the Munich Re platform, giving customers immediate access to severity forecasts and reliable, rapidly delivered measurements of flood hazard extent and depth. Additional ICEYE products — including Flood Insights, Flood Rapid Impact, Hurricane Rapid Impact, and Wildfire Insights — will be made available for resale by Munich Re to its customers globally.

This agreement marks a major milestone for ICEYE and the use of its insights for corporate resilience analysis, with data seamlessly integrated into the ecosystem where clients need it. The partnership also establishes a scalable framework for embedding data-driven hazard and damage analysis into event response services worldwide.

Anke Sielker, Head of Re/Insurance Practice at ICEYE, stated: “At ICEYE, innovation is at the heart of what we do. Integrating our flood intelligence into Location Risk Intelligence, Munich Re’s powerful analytics platform, represents a major step forward in how leading-edge data and technology can be combined to enable insurers and businesses to better understand and manage the rapidly evolving flood risk landscape.”

Christof Reinert, Head of Risk Management Partners at Munich Re, stated: “Natural catastrophes are becoming more frequent and severe. Businesses need scalable solutions to manage these risks before, during, and after disaster events strike. By integrating ICEYE into the platform, we provide even more comprehensive insights into natural risk disaster exposure. The flood event data is a substantial feature that can even improve our Location Risk Intelligence offering. This gives our customers a decisive advantage, enabling active risk management to safeguard investments and operations, while also strengthening resilience.”
