Simply Health, Simply Dental

When a concept works well, why change it? Here’s the word from Simply Health;

Leading healthcare services and plan provider Simplyhealth has launched Simply Dental, a new digital-first workplace dental benefit, designed to meet the evolving oral health needs of UK businesses and their employees.

The product provides money back towards routine check-ups, hygiene visits that support early detection and prevention, helping reduce the likelihood of painful and costly dental issues. It also provides the ability to claim back up to 100% of a dentist’s receipt (up to annual limits) for essential dental care, from fillings and extractions to X-rays, scans, prescriptions and complex treatments. Employees have the flexibility to use any NHS or private dentist and have access to worldwide dental emergency cover and a 24/7 dental emergency helpline.

Poor oral health doesn’t just affect individuals – it has a measurable impact on businesses and the wider economy. In the 2024 Oral Health Survey it found a quarter (26%) of those surveyed said that dental pain has affected their work, with 18% saying it has specifically affected their workplace productivity. This is in part a result of a quarter (25%) of adults also admitting they do not visit the dentist for a check-up at least once every two years as recommended1.

Of those that do not go to the dentist at least every two years, 38% say it’s because they cannot afford to go1. In addition, the Oral Health Foundation reported last year that NHS dentistry costs have increased far beyond the rate of inflation, with treatment charges surging around 50% over the past decade2. However, previous Simplyhealth research shows that 90% of people with a dental plan attend the dentist at least every two years, compared with 70% of those without cover3, underlining the importance of funded preventative care.

Simply Dental not only covers routine and complex treatment costs, it also provides access to a range of third party on-demand discounted and self-pay health and wellbeing services, from at-home diagnostic testing to eye health and more. This adds everyday wellbeing support beyond just oral health. Managed through an easy-to-use app, the product enables straightforward claiming for employees and low administrative burden for employers, delivering value without stretching budgets.

Marc Singh-Jones, Head of Commercial Product and Partnerships said: “Employers recognise the value that workplace health benefits provide, not just in attracting and retaining staff, but ensuring their workforce has access to preventative healthcare.

“A healthy workforce takes fewer sick days, is more productive, and feels happier at work. We have developed Simply Dental, our new digital-first workplace dental benefit, to be affordable and flexible to meet the needs of different businesses and their diverse workforces.”

Simply Dental builds from the foundations of Simplyhealth’s 150 years’ experience in providing simple, affordable workplace health plans, and leverages the knowledge and expertise of Denplan, the leading dental payment plan.

Denplan, part of Simplyhealth, has more than 6,600 member dentists nationwide caring for more than 1.5 million patients registered for Denplan products. Denplan is a dental payment plan designed for dentists to offer to their patients to help spread the cost of dentistry.

Simply Dental is a workplace benefit health product, distinct from Denplan’s dental payment plans, and members are not required to use a Denplan dentist to utilise it. It can be offered as a stand-alone benefit or in combination with Simplyhealth health plans.
