Russell Scanlan Raises £11,300 For Trent Bridge Community Trust

A feelgood story for the festive season;

Chartered Insurance Broker Russell Scanlan, one of Nottingham’s longest established chartered insurance brokers, has raised a record-breaking £11,301.09 in support of its 2025 Charity of the Year, the Trent Bridge Community Trust.

The business, which is part of the Acrisure group and a longstanding corporate supporter of Trent Bridge, has delivered its most successful charity year to date. The partnership is aligned with Acrisure’s three-year sponsorship of the cricket ground and naming rights to the renamed Acrisure Stand, formerly known as the Fox Road Stand.

Throughout 2025, the team at Russell Scanlan organised a number of high-profile fundraising events, including its much-loved Annual Charity Quiz Night, regular bake sales, and participation in the Robin Hood Half Marathon. One of the standout fundraising efforts came from octogenarian, Bill Russell, who raised over £6,200 by zip-wiring across the iconic Trent Bridge cricket ground – a challenge that captured the imagination of both colleagues and clients.

The chosen beneficiary, Trent Bridge Community Trust, is the charitable arm of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. Since its establishment in 2008, the Trust has invested over £2 million into vital community projects, delivering targeted support to improve the lives of people across Nottinghamshire. Its initiatives focus on mental health, physical wellbeing, youth development and education, and are estimated to have saved local services over £3 million by providing early intervention and community-led support.

Commenting on the fundraising milestone, Joanne Marriott, Director at Russell Scanlan and Chair of the Charity Committee, said: “We began this year with the goal of making 2025 our most impactful fundraising year yet, and we are incredibly proud to have achieved that. The response from our staff, clients and the wider community has been truly inspiring.

“Charity is central to our culture at Russell Scanlan. As a business that has been part of Nottingham’s fabric for more than 140 years, we recognise the importance of giving back to the people and communities who have supported us. The work of Trent Bridge Community Trust is transformational, and we’re honoured to have played a small part in supporting their mission. We’d like to say a special thank you to everyone who has got involved and donated over the course of the year – this wouldn’t be possible without your support.”

Jo Belton, Chair of the Trent Bridge Community Trust, added “We’d like to thank Russell Scanlan for their invaluable support.”

“As our first ever Charity Partner, they have shown a true commitment to the cause all season long, with some innovative fundraising ideas. In particular, it was great to see Nottinghamshire’s former President, Bill Russell, show such dedication – and more than a little courage – to take on the Trent Bridge Zipwire Challenge and raise over £6,000 in the process.

The funds raised by Russell Scanlan will have a tangible impact on our community programmes, helping us to provide targeted support to those who are most in need across our city and county. To have received this backing from an organisation with strong Nottinghamshire roots makes it all the more special.”

Founded in 1881, Russell Scanlan continues to deliver expert insurance and risk management services to businesses and private clients across the Midlands and beyond. The firm’s partnership with Trent Bridge reflects a shared commitment to long-term community investment and corporate social responsibility.
