Some marketing news from Roadrunner/Howden for you;
Edd China, one of the UK’s best-known automotive personalities, has collaborated with Road Runner, part of Howden, the original motor trade insurance broker, to create a special five-part YouTube series, which follows him customising a classic 1980s ice cream vehicle into a bespoke Road Runner van.
When completed, the Road Runner van, inspired by the brand’s squirrel mascot, Spanners, will be wrapped in auburn fake fur and adorned with a playful neon sign, “Mind my nuts”. The van will tour the UK in 2026, visiting motor traders to challenge people to take part in quick, fun car competitions while enjoying a hot beverage served from the van’s dedicated drinks counter.
Car enthusiasts can watch the first episode in the series on Edd China’s YouTube channel, @EddChina, beginning 4pm on 30 January. New episodes will be released fortnightly.
Edd has amassed a dedicated following during his 30-year automotive career, having co-presented and co-produced the Discovery TV channel’s Wheeler Dealers programme for 13 years, as well as appearing on Scrapheap Challenge, Top Gear, Pulling Power, and Fifth Gear. With an interest in cars and all things mechanical, Edd’s YouTube channel has 1.15m subscribers, and he holds several Guinness World Records for the world’s fastest sofa, shed, bathroom, bed, and the largest shopping trolley.
Lee Dicks, Sales Manager, Road Runner, part of Howden, commented: “This is a truly fantastic partnership with Edd because he brings a passionate and inventive take on how to transform existing vehicles into quirky functional vehicles. We’re looking forward to taking our van on the road in 2026 to visit clients across the four nations. Road users should keep an eye out for our rather eye-catching “Mind my nuts” neon bumper sign, as we’ll be serving free hot drinks to passersby when we park up.”
For more than 25 years, Road Runner, an established brand within Howden UK&I, part of the global insurance intermediary group Howden, has provided specialist and tailored insurance to independent and commercial motor traders and mechanics.
