Green Flag has announced the fleet-wide adoption of HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud®, becoming the first nationwide breakdown provider in the UK to deploy advanced digital alerting technology. This landmark initiative reinforces Green Flag’s commitment to safety innovation for its network of technicians.
The integration is being delivered through HAAS Alert’s strategic partner, Apex Networks, ensuring a seamless rollout of digital protection across Green Flag’s recovery fleet.
Recovery technicians face significant risks daily while working roadside to assist stranded motorists. With the rise of distracted driving and improved vehicle soundproofing, physical lights and beacons are not always enough to warn approaching traffic.
Safety Cloud addresses this problem by delivering real-time digital alerts to drivers approaching active recovery vehicles. These alerts are received via navigation apps and compatible in-vehicle infotainment systems, providing up to 30 seconds of advance warning. This “digital siren” prompts drivers to slow down and move over well before they make visual contact with the breakdown scene. With an extensive network that enables it to reach customers within an hour on average, Green Flag views this technology as a vital part of its health and safety strategy.
“At Green Flag, we rely on over 3,000 local technicians to assist personal and business vehicles across the UK, 24/7. Whether it is a caravan stopping mid-road trip or an issue with an EV, our goal is to get to the customer quickly because nothing beats near” said Harry Rai-Paul, Health, Safety and Compliance Manager – Roadside Rescue at Green Flag. “However, our top priority is ensuring our technicians are safe while they do their job. Being the first nationwide network to go live with Safety Cloud allows us to provide an extra layer of protection, helping ensure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day.”
