This is smart thinking in an era of outages, hackers and data center capacity issues; business interruption is changing from physical resource supply issues, to digital bottlenecks and denial of service. Here’s the word;
The forensic accounting arm of Davies, MDD, has recently announced the launch of MDDi, a new AI-enabled platform designed to support the handling of low-value, high-volume Business Interruption (BI) claims. Developed in-house by Davies’ technology team and MDD experts, MDDi combines longstanding expertise in forensic accounting with AI, to automatically extract and analyse BI data from documents, streamlining non-manufacturing claims processing.
MDDi is designed to improve the customer journey and claims experience for policyholders, insurers and those managing claims operations, while also enabling more effective use of claims data for future analysis and underwriting. The solution provides assessment of financial documents live and tackles common challenges in BI claims, such as manual workflows, limited transparency and unpredictable adjustment costs. These challenges often include a heavy reliance on TPAs and MGAs, frequent communication and evidentiary difficulties and limited visibility into claim progress in real-time.
A hybrid support model is available for all cases, allowing customers to engage with AI as well as MDD’s forensic accountants, especially in instances where deeper financial analysis or expert insight is required.
Key features include:
- Streamlined, real-time user experience
- AI is used to automatically extract and analyse BI data from documents
- Virtually instantaneous measurement results
- Transparent and predictable cost structure
- Real-time tracking and user-friendly dashboard
- Scalable support for catastrophe events and business-as-usual claims
Marcelo Fazio, Chief Innovation and Growth Officer of MDD, said: “We’ve designed MDDi, in conjunction with Davies’ in-house technology team, to address common challenges in managing high-volume, low-value BI claims. It helps optimise processes that are often manual and unpredictable, improving transparency and reducing delays in communication. By providing real-time insights and scalable workflows, MDDi supports a more consistent and efficient claims experience. Additionally, several of its features have potential applications beyond claims, offering opportunities to enhance other areas of the customer journey over time.”
MDD was acquired in 2024 by Davies, the leading specialist professional services and technology company serving insurance and highly regulated markets. As a core part of Davies’ Vision 2030 strategy, unveiled at the start of 2025 by Group CEO, Dan Saulter, the firm will be doubling their investment in technology and AI, including GenAI. This move comes as Davies looks to create smarter and more efficient claims processing, without sacrificing the quality of customer interactions and service.
