Signicat Teams Up With WSO2 on Digital ID Project

As Europe moves toward a unified digital identity framework, businesses face a significant hurdle: offering consumers a convenient range of authentication methods means complexity in connecting to dozens of national electronic ID (eID) schemes and soon, the EU Digital Identity Wallet. To solve this problem, Signicat, a leader in European digital identity, has partnered with WSO2, a global leader in digital transformation technology. This strategic partnership allows Signicat’s platform to be used with WSO2’s Identity Server, offering a single, unified solution for businesses needing authentication of their customers.

This collaboration aims to address the growing demand for robust digital identity solutions, driven by the rapid expansion of digital banking, e-commerce, and the increasing need for secure but convenient authentication methods. The challenge is critical, as 68% of European consumers have abandoned a financial application  due to overly complex processes, according to Signicat’s “Battle to Onboard” report.

The partnership allows WSO2 customers access to Signicat’s platform, which includes 35 European eIDs as well as future-proofing for the advent of the EUDI Wallet. This will simplify how businesses connect to Europe’s various digital ID schemes, saving WSO2 customers significant development time and effort on compliance. For Signicat, the partnership creates new opportunities by making its solutions available to WSO2’s extensive global user base.

Authentication for pan-European businesses shouldn’t mean building a new identity strategy for every country. That approach not only slows down growth but can create dangerous gaps in security,” said James Brodhurst, Partnerships Manager at Signicat. “The digital economy is built on trust. By adding our network of European IDs to WSO2’s powerful platform, we are making that trust easy to create. We are giving businesses one simple, secure way to operate and grow across borders.

The challenge for most development teams isn’t building the core application; it’s managing the complex integrations required to operate across different markets, especially in the identity space,” said Geethika Cooray, Vice President and General Manager of Identity and Access Management at WSO2.

The partnership targets joint prospects already identified in several European locations. This integrated solution equips customers of both companies with a powerful tool to solve complex regional compliance and security challenges, a capability that will be a central topic of discussion at the upcoming Incyber forum in Lille, France.
