ASCEND INSURANCE HOLDINGS

Ascend Insurance Holdings (AIH), the fast-growing UK insurance broking group, has announced the appointment of Roger Brown as Group Head of Mergers & Acquisitions.

In his new role, Roger will lead AIH’s M&A programme as the group continues to build a national platform centred on high-quality, independent commercial lines brokers. He will be responsible for originating, structuring and executing acquisitions, as well as working closely with partner businesses to support long-term growth while preserving their culture, independence and client focus.

Roger brings significant experience advising and partnering with founder-led and owner-managed businesses, with a deep understanding of the UK insurance broking market. His appointment further strengthens AIH’s leadership team as the group accelerates its growth strategy.

DWF

DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has appointed Jemma Brimblecombe as a partner in its professional indemnity team in London.

Jemma joins DWF with extensive experience in professional negligence and commercial litigation, having built a strong reputation advising on high-value, complex disputes. Her practice includes claims against solicitors, accountants and valuers, alongside broader commercial litigation, fraud and breach of contract matters.

GREATER THAN

Greater Than, a global provider of predictive intelligence for safer, more sustainable mobility, today announced that Johanna Forseke has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Liselott Johansson as part of the leadership transition announced in January. 

Having previously held the position of Chief Business Officer and Deputy CEO, Johanna has played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s global partnerships and commercial footprint. Her appointment marks a new phase for Greater Than as the company focuses on accelerating the adoption of its technology and translating its proven capabilities into broader real-world impact.

VAN AMEDYE MARINE

Van Ameyde Marine is pleased to announce the appointment of Ben Sturrock, formerly of Allseas, as Head of Marine Services for its UK operations, strengthening the company’s senior technical leadership across its UK marine consultancy and surveying operations.

Ben brings extensive experience in offshore and marine operations, with a strong track record in delivering complex marine services across the oil & gas, renewables, shipping and loss-prevention sectors. His background spans vessel assurance, marine risk advisory, and offshore project support, including rig moves, pipelay, heavy-lift operations, subsea work and marine system assessments.

Zurich UK has appointed Andy King as Head of Regional Market for the North, strengthening its regional leadership team as it continues to invest in growth, service and long‑term broker partnerships.
Andy will lead the Northern region with a broker‑led, tailored engagement strategy, recognising that individual brokers have differing needs and that there is no one‑size‑fits‑all approach to regional growth.  Andy brings almost 16 years’ experience at Zurich, having held senior roles across strategic execution, operational delivery and broker engagement. He has developed a strong technical and commercial foundation through leadership positions spanning claims and UK retail.
WINN GROUP

Winn Group has appointed Peter Simmons as Head of Insurance Strategy as part of the investment in developing strategic partnerships across the insurance industry.

Peter has held senior roles with organisations including Coplus, Auxillis and EDAM and he brings more than 20 years of experience across the insurance and claims sector, with expertise spanning the full claims lifecycle, mobility solutions, ancillary products and vehicle repair services.

In his new role, Peter will focus on supporting Winn Group’s continued growth within the insurance market, helping to build collaborative insurer partnerships and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer outcomes.

CONSILIUM

Consilium, the global specialty (re)insurance broker, announces the appointment of Henrietta Burgess as Partner – International Casualty Risk Solutions, further strengthening its International Casualty proposition.

Henrietta brings nearly a decade of specialist Casualty experience to the role, with a proven track record across complex international placements. She joins from BMS and has previously held roles at Ambris, Gallagher and JLT Re, where she spent seven years developing particular expertise in Life Sciences, Healthcare and Casualty business across Australia, Canada, UK, Latin America and the Middle East. Her appointment reflects Consilium’s continued investment in high-calibre talent to support its growing global client base.

VENTIS
 Ventis, the commercial and residential real estate MGA, has announced the appointment of Peter Mitchell as New Business Development Underwriter. In this role, Peter will become the primary point of contact for a panel of Ventis’ mid-market brokers.
He will assume responsibility for writing new business on this panel and managing ongoing relationships in the mid-market space, in a new role designed to support Ventis’ continued expansion in this key market area. He will report directly into Gareth Roberts, CEO of Ventis.
Peter brings over a decade’s experience as a trading underwriter and insurance data manager at Plum Underwriting and most recently at Accelerant. This grasp of data-led underwriting is a key attribute as Ventis continues to expand its digital trading capabilities and tech-enabled underwriting.
ARCH INSURANCE

Arch Insurance UK Regional Division has announced the appointment of Dean King as Kings Hill Branch Manager, effective immediately.

In this role, King is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the branch’s day-to-day operations, managing broker distribution, and driving the delivery of Arch’s growth strategy across the Kent and Surrey region. He reports to Janice Mullan, South & Thames Valley Regional Manager.

King brings nearly 20 years of experience in the insurance market. He joined Arch in 2023 as a Broker Relationship Development Manager and has previously held business development and underwriting roles at Jensten Group, Unicorn Underwriting Limited, and LV=.

THATCHAM RESEARCH

Thatcham Research has appointed Rich Tomlinson as Insurance Sector Director, effective Monday 11 May 2026.
Tomlinson will lead the organisation’s Insurance Vertical, reporting directly to Chief Executive Jonathan Hewett. The role has been created alongside Thatcham Research’s Automotive and Repair Verticals, led by Ben Townsend and Dean Lander respectively.
In this newly created position, Tomlinson will play a central role in coordinating and enhancing the value delivered to Thatcham Research’s insurance members. Drawing on the organisation’s research, data, product, influencing and training capabilities, he will help ensure members continue to benefit from increasingly integrated automotive risk intelligence.
The appointment comes at a time of significant change across the insurance landscape. Market consolidation is creating larger, more complex organisations, while insurers continue to balance growth with operational efficiency. In this environment, the need for rigorous automotive risk intelligence has never been greater.

PRO LEGAL

Pro Legal, the specialist legal services business supporting the insurance and Delegated Authority (DA) market, recently announced the appointment of Darren Goldthorpe as Legal Director – Legacy, further strengthening its capabilities in legacy and run-off solutions, effective immediately.

Darren will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of Pro Legal’s legacy offering, working closely with insurers, MGAs and stakeholders to provide strategic legal support across complex run-off portfolios.

CALIDRIS

Calidris Investment Partners (“Calidris”), an insurance-focused investment manager backed by RedBird Capital Partners, has announced three new hires as the firm continues to expand its platform. James Larner joins as Director of Investor Partnerships, Chelsea Smith as Finance and Operations Manager and Abigail Exon as Quantitative Strategies Manager.

James will lead Calidris’ global capital partnerships strategy, including investor outreach and relationship management. With nearly 20 years of experience in capital formation, he brings a track record of delivering solutions to institutional investors, family offices, asset managers and investment consultants. He joins the firm after a decade at Partners Group and Pillar Capital where he led business development and investor relations across a wide range of clients.

In addition to strengthening its investor interface, Calidris has enhanced its technical and operational core with the appointments of Chelsea and Abigail.

Chelsea joins from Deloitte where she has spent the last 10 years working with complex multinational clients across multiple industries. She will help manage external relationships while supporting the continued growth of the platform’s financial and operational capabilities.

Abigail joins from Ki and previously worked for Ascot in both Bermuda and London, where she focused on building tools to support underwriting portfolio management. At Calidris, she will be a part of the quantitative strategies team and will assist in building out the firm’s analytic framework.

EUNA UNDERWRITING

Euna Underwriting, the specialist MGA, has appointed Nicholas Hartley as Head of Property and Casualty to support the multi-line build out of the business. Hartley will provide strategic direction as Euna grows its property and casualty portfolio.
Hartley brings over 25 years’ underwriting experience in the P&C sector and has held a number of senior leadership roles. He joins Euna from AXA UK, where he most recently served as Head of SME Underwriting, leading a large and diverse portfolio that encompassed property and casualty, motor fleet, and financial lines.
He brings deep technical expertise, proven underwriting leadership, and a strong understanding of how to build and manage profitable P&C portfolios. His appointment is an important step for Euna as it continues to strengthen its proposition, offering flexible solutions and best-in-class service for brokers and clients.
GALLAGHER

Gallagher, the global insurance broking and risk management company, today announced the appointment of Charles Amblard as Senior Advisor within the EMEA arm of its global multidisciplinary Private Equity and M&A practice (PEMA).

Based in France with a pan-European remit, Charles will drive new client relationship development and help expand the presence of Gallagher within Europe’s private equity and M&A communities. GO.COMPARE
Go.Compare has announced the appointment of Sophia Glennon as its new Head of Digital Growth, strengthening the company’s digital marketing team as it adapts to a rapidly changing search landscape.
In her new role, Sophia will report to VP of Marketing, Paul Rogers, and will be responsible for driving the company’s digital growth strategy across channels, including paid search (PPC), as well as managing broader performance marketing initiatives.
Sophia brings more than a decade of experience in digital marketing across the insurance and personal finance sector. Beginning her career at Admiral, before moving into Confused.com, where she rose from Marketing Assistant to PPC Manager, where she led the team for over five years. COVEA
Covéa Insurance has announced the appointment of Stephen Long as Chief Operating Officer (COO), following unanimous support from the company’s Board. Stephen’s responsibilities within Covéa Insurance will remain unchanged, continuing to lead the company’s Claims, Operations, IT and Customer functions, and retaining his position on the Executive Committee. The appointment formally recognises the strategic importance of his role within the organisation.
As COO, Stephen will continue to balance three key priorities for the business: operating a lean and agile organisation, delivering the high‑quality service and claims handling Covéa Insurance is known for, and ensuring the company’s ongoing commitment to strong Consumer Duty outcomes for all customers.
