The latest update from the Insurance Charity;
The Insurance Charity is delighted to announce it has launched a new School Essentials Grants programme today, as part of its annual Awareness Week (22–26 June), providing financial support to insurance people with school-age children who are facing the ongoing pressures of household and education-related costs.
The new grants programme will offer awards of £250 per child in the UK and €300 per child in Ireland to help cover a range of school-related expenses, including clothing and footwear, equipment, activities, and school trips. The programme is open to eligible current and former insurance professionals across the UK, Ireland, and the Channel Islands who are receiving means-tested benefits.
The launch forms part of The Insurance Charity’s Awareness Week campaign, which aims to increase understanding of the financial support and practical guidance available to insurance people and their dependents, and encourage the industry to spread the word to colleagues, former colleagues, friends, and family members who could benefit.
The Insurance Charity supports current and former insurance professionals from across the industry, regardless of their role or length of service, no matter how short. The new School Essentials Programme broadens that support further by providing help with the costs of education and school life. Unlike the Charity’s standard financial grants, applicants do not need to have experienced a specific misfortune, such as redundancy or illness, in order to apply.
Helen Sanson, Chief Executive of The Insurance Charity, said: “We know that many families continue to feel the impact of the cost-of-living pressures that have affected household budgets over recent years. School uniforms, equipment, extracurricular activities, and trips can quickly add up, particularly for families with more than one child.”
“Through the School Essentials Programme, we’re providing targeted support that can make a meaningful difference. We want people to know that this help is available, whether they’re a current insurance employee, a former industry professional, a first-time applicant to the Charity, or someone who has received support from us before.”
Throughout Awareness Week, The Insurance Charity will be encouraging individuals and organisations across the sector to help raise awareness of the confidential support available and ensure that no insurance person misses out on assistance they may be entitled to receive.
