Amica, through their charitable arm, Amica Companies Foundation, is off to an impressive start to its 2026 philanthropic efforts, awarding over $750,000 to community nonprofits during the first half of the year.
Additionally, Amica encourages employees’ philanthropic efforts through a generous Matching Gifts Program where they match qualified donations at 200%. Through the first half of 2026, Amica provided over $1.25 million in support of nonprofits through their Matching Gifts Program.
Amica’s giving efforts reflect its long-standing commitment to strengthening the communities it serves by providing support for mission-driven organizations not only in Rhode Island, but in the communities where its employees and customers live and work.
“Community giving is woven into our culture, and we are proud that it has been truly embraced by our employees at every level of our organization,” said Amica Chairman, President and CEO Ted Shallcross. “Their generosity and commitment to giving back help strengthen the communities we serve and reflect the values that define Amica.”
A portion of the total funds were directed through its Employee Community Involvement Program (ECIP). The program was established to recognize the significant volunteer time of their employees and spouses by awarding grants to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations in their name.
Through the first half of 2026, the ECIP accounted for a total of 231 grants totaling $250,000. Over 170 Amica employees participated in the program, including Cathy, a Digital Intelligence Lead.
Cathy volunteers with four Rhode Island–based animal welfare organizations: North Providence Animal Welfare Society (NPAWS), PawsWatch, Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue and Ten Lives Cat Rescue. Volunteering with rescues is a passion rooted in her lifelong love for animals that grew into a deep desire to help animals who often go unseen.
“It’s challenging to fundraise from a time and resources perspective, so I’m grateful Amica makes these grants available,” shares Cathy. Her ECIP grants will fund critical needs, including a pet food pantry, a veterinary care fund, spay/neuter and TNR services. “Amica has always encouraged volunteerism, and these grants are a wonderful way to recognize and support the efforts of employees that donate their time.”
