ARCH
Arch Insurance EU (Arch) today announced the appointment of Giacomo Mariani as Italy Branch Manager, subject to regulatory approval.
In this new role, Mariani is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, business development and broker engagement for the Italian branch to support Arch’s overall growth plans. He is based in the company’s Milan office. A highly respected figure, Mariani brings over 14 years of experience in the Italian insurance market. He joins Arch from Everest where he was Head of Italy, having previously held team leadership roles at Aon and Zurich.
TOKIO MARINE
Tokio Marine HCC – Cyber & Professional Lines Group (CPLG), a member of the Tokio Marine HCC group of companies based in Houston, Texas, today announced the appointment of Brian Alva as Senior Vice President of Underwriting to Lead Cyber & Tech Underwriting, strengthening the organization’s cyber leadership team as it continues to advance its strategy for disciplined, profitable growth and differentiated cyber risk solutions.
Alva brings more than 15 years of cyber and professional liability experience, with a career spanning underwriting leadership, portfolio strategy, product development and distribution. He joins CPLG from Travelers, where he served as Vice President, Specialty Cyber, following senior leadership roles at Corvus Insurance and NAS Insurance Services. Across these organizations, Alva has built and led underwriting teams, managed complex cyber portfolios and helped drive profitable growth in a rapidly evolving market.
ADDEPT INSURANCE
HDI Global (HDI) has appointed Tobias Sigurdsson as Global Head of Fine Art & Specie, strengthening its position in a growing specialty segment covering high-value assets and complex global risks. With this appointment, the Corporate & Specialty insurer underlines its ambition to grow in specialty lines by combining global expertise with strong local execution.
Sigurdsson brings more than two decades of experience in Marine and Specialty insurance. He joined HDI Global in 2017 and has played a key role in developing the insurer’s Cargo and Specie business. He was responsible for Cargo underwriting in the Nordics and Specie underwriting globally, contributing to a lead market position in the Specie segment.
In his new function, Sigurdsson will focus fully on expanding HDI Global’s Fine Art & Specie offering. This includes further strengthening the company’s footprint globally, including in the London market, while also developing local underwriting capabilities in key regions to better serve clients and brokers with domestic risks.
OBRA CAPITAL
Obra Capital, Inc. (“Obra”), a specialized alternative asset management firm, has announced that Colleen Kilfoyle has joined the firm as Chief Compliance Officer. She will join Obra’s senior management team and will report directly to Stephen Kirkwood, Obra’s Chief Legal Officer, reflecting the firm’s commitment to continued positioning of compliance as a core strategic function powering Obra’s long-term growth.
Kilfoyle joins Obra from Sculptor Capital Management, where she spent over a decade directing compliance, legal and regulatory functions for the $37 billion alternative asset manager, most recently as Executive Managing Director and Partner, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Litigation & Regulatory Counsel. During her tenure at Sculptor, Kilfoyle worked closely with several members of Obra’s current leadership team, including CEO Blair Wallace. In her new role, Kilfoyle will lead Obra’s regulatory strategy, steering the firm through an increasingly complex compliance landscape. Her mandate includes enhancing the firm’s compliance monitoring infrastructure and technology capabilities, building out the compliance team to support Obra’s continued growth and reinforcing the firm’s commitment to investors and counterparties.
LOCKTON
Lockton, the world’s largest privately held, independent insurance brokerage, has appointed Jonathan Lindé as Head of Real Estate in Sweden, strengthening its capabilities in the Nordics and reflecting the continued expansion of its European Real Estate practice.
Based in Stockholm, Jonathan will work closely with clients and colleagues across Europe to grow Lockton’s real estate proposition in Sweden and deliver strategic risk and insurance advice to property owners, investors, developers, and asset managers.
He joins Lockton from insurance broker Söderberg & Partners. Jonathan’s appointment reflects Lockton’s continued investment in leading talent and market-leading client proposition by combining deep local expertise with the strength of its European platform.
Lockton, the world’s largest independent insurance broker, has also appointed Louise Piper as a Placement Director in their Major Accounts business, further strengthening its client leadership proposition for large corporate clients and reinforcing its strategy of investment in senior market-facing expertise.
Effective from 1 September, Louise will serve in this critical role as a senior advocate for large and complex clients in the insurance market. She will provide strategic oversight across insurance programmes and work closely with client service and leadership teams to align placement strategy with business objectives, helping clients maximise value from today’s favourable market conditions while positioning them for future market dynamics.
AON
Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global professional services firm, today announced the appointment of Piers Johansen to lead its UK transaction advisory services and solutions business, Aon M&A and Transaction Solutions (AMATS).
Johansen takes on the AMATS UK leadership role having held a variety of senior positions within the business. He joined Aon in 2015, bringing extensive legal and financial services experience, including roles as an M&A lawyer at Skadden, where he completed a two-year secondment as assistant secretary to The Takeover Panel, and as managing director and associate general counsel within J.P. Morgan’s Investment Bank in London. He will report to Michael Carr, CEO for AMATS in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and will be based in London.
Johansen succeeds Anka Taylor and Ian McCaw, who co-led the AMATS UK business for two years while continuing to act in client-serving leadership positions in M&A insurance broking and transaction advisory, respectively, for AMATS in EMEA.
VERISK
Eversheds Sutherland has strengthened its top-ranked pensions practice with the appointment of Claire Petheram as a Senior Consultant.
Claire joins the firm following a career at Linklaters spanning in excess of 35 years, during which she served as Global Head of Pensions.
Claire has extensive experience advising trustees, sponsors and financial institutions on some of the UK’s largest and most complex pensions matters. These matters include significant and innovative buy-in and buy-out transactions, longevity swaps, funding structures (including those involving contingent assets) and fund mergers and consolidations.
As one of the UK’s most highly regarded pensions lawyers, Claire is widely recognised in both legal industry directories, Legal 500 and Chambers.
ROKSTONE
Rokstone, the international specialty (re)insurance MGA, has appointed Sam James as Head of Complex Claims. She joins Rokstone following her notice period from Convex where she was latterly Technical Head of Claims.
A qualified lawyer, Sam joins Rokstone with more than 25 years’ experience managing complex and high-value claims across the insurance market including seven years at Convex and 10 years at Catlin where she was Head of Casualty Claims. Recognised for her technical expertise, commercial mindset and empathic and collaborative leadership style, she has built an outstanding reputation for delivering excellent outcomes for clients, brokers and capacity partners alike.
Her appointment represents another significant investment in Rokstone’s specialist claims capabilities, ensuring the business continues to provide the high-quality service and technical excellence that underpin its underwriting proposition.
GUY CARPENTER
Guy Carpenter, a business of Marsh (NYSE: MRSH) and a leading global risk and reinsurance specialist, today announced that Jessica Ciak has joined the firm’s Healthcare Segment as a Senior Vice President, focusing on the US Medical Professional Liability sector. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ms. Ciak reports to Martha Jacobs, Guy Carpenter’s Healthcare Segment Leader.
Ms. Ciak joins Guy Carpenter from BMS Group, where she most recently served as a Senior Vice President. She brings more than 25 years of reinsurance experience to the role, having placed treaty reinsurance across a wide range of property/casualty products, most recently with a focus on specialty lines, including medical professional liability.
BROWNE JACOBSON
Browne Jacobson has appointed Kevin Moore – one of the most connected lawyers in Ireland’s life sciences and MedTech ecosystem – as Commercial Partner, a major step in building an ambitious All-Island legal platform for life sciences.
Kevin has spent the past 15 years advising companies across the full business lifecycle, from early-stage innovation and investment through commercialisation and market entry to strategic transactions and exit, with a particular focus on the manufacturing, supply and commercial arrangements that underpin life science products in market.
DeNovo Legal, the specialist firm he founded, has been a trusted adviser to emerging and scaling companies within Galway and Ireland’s internationally recognised life sciences cluster.

PKF Littlejohn further strengthens its Financial Services team in London with the appointment of Satty Khangura as a Partner.
Satty has over 18 years of experience in auditing insurance businesses and is the latest senior hire to join PKF Littlejohn from the Big Four.
Satty has a track record of successfully leading complex group audits of insurance intermediaries and carriers. His expertise covers both private equity backed and listed businesses operating in the UK and overseas. This has given him a deep understanding of the operational, financial reporting and regulatory challenges facing complex insurance groups.
