HDI Global (HDI) Belgium has announced the launch of a dedicated Aviation underwriting team for the Benelux and Southern European markets. Operating within HDI’s Specialty aviation business unit, the team further strengthens its market leading position within Europe and provides brokers and clients with enhanced local access to global underwriting capabilities.
The Brussels-based team will be led by Stijn Keppens. Stijn will provide brokers and clients with responsive, sound, technical and multilingual underwriting support, backed by HDI’s established international aviation platform.
Operating as part of HDI’s Aviation Centre of Excellence, the team will combine local market insight and regional distribution expertise with the scale and underwriting strength of HDI’s Global Network. Its focus will include private and business aviation, flying clubs, flight schools, helicopter operations, unmanned aerial vehicles, maintenance, repair and overhaul providers, airfields and hangar-keepers, together with associated General Aviation risks.
As the aviation sector evolves, the new team will also support clients and brokers in navigating emerging exposures linked to fleet modernisation, electric vertical take-off and landing aircrafts, alternative propulsion and other developing technologies.

The launch further reinforces HDI’s broker-focused approach. The team will build specialist partnerships while also providing targeted support to generalist brokers managing smaller or developing aviation portfolios.
