Some recent news from Freedom Diagnostics for you;
Freedom Diagnostics, the latest service in the Freedom 360 health and wellbeing toolkit, gives eligible individual and group members a simpler route to private X-ray and ultrasound scans, with clinical reporting and clear explanations of their results. Freedom Health Insurance has partnered with Scan.com to introduce the service from 1 October 2026 through Scan.com’s network of more than 300 imaging centres across the UK.
A simpler route from referral to results
Members with eligible Freedom Elite individual or group policies, Freedom Essentials individual policies, or Freedom Worldwide UK individual or group policies can be referred by Freedom Digital GP, Freedom Physiotherapy or their own GP.
Once Freedom Health Insurance has reviewed the referral and confirmed that the scan is covered, the member is registered with Scan.com and receives a booking link. They can then choose a suitable imaging centre and appointment.
X-rays are reported by a consultant radiologist and ultrasounds by a sonographer. A Scan.com clinician contacts the member to explain the findings in plain English and, where relevant, discuss possible next steps. The member also receives a copy of the report to discuss with their own GP.
Scans arranged through Scan.com are settled directly with the imaging centre, so members do not need to pay for the scan upfront and claim the cost back. Usual policy limits and excesses still apply.
Broad UK access through Scan.com’s imaging network
Through its network of more than 300 imaging centres across the UK, Scan.com gives members greater flexibility to find an imaging centre and appointment that suits them. Around 82% of the UK population lives within 30 miles of a centre, helping to make private diagnostic imaging more accessible across much of the country.*
