HDI Global (HDI) has launched Global Healthcare Solutions, expanding its established German medical malpractice business into an international offering for healthcare providers and care organisations. The proposition combines specialist healthcare liability underwriting with HDI’s international underwriting platform and local market capabilities. To lead the business, the Corporate & Specialty insurer has appointed Colin Lavey as Head of Global Healthcare Solutions at HDI Global, effective 1 September 2026.
The launch of Global Healthcare Solutions marks the next step in HDI’s international growth. Building on its established medical malpractice expertise, the insurer is expanding its healthcare capabilities to serve a broader range of healthcare organisations across international markets and the entire healthcare value chain.

To lead the international expansion, Colin Lavey assumes the role of Head of Global Healthcare Solutions. He joined HDI Global nine years ago and has held a range of underwriting and leadership positions, including Director Liability UK & Ireland and, most recently, Executive Underwriter Automotive. In his new role, Lavey will lead the continued development of the Global Healthcare Solutions proposition and support the growth of HDI Global’s healthcare business internationally.
