Tracker helps recover two stolen Audis, here’s the word;
After a Midlands couple discovered their house had been broken into overnight, car keys taken and both their prized Audi’s stolen, they turned to stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) expert, Tracker Network UK and the local police force for help. As a result, the pair of stolen Audi’s were successfully recovered in under an hour, thanks to the forward thinking of the couple, who had Tracker’s unique Stolen Vehicle Recovery (SVR) technology fitted to both vehicles.
The thieves broke into the couple’s home overnight while they were sleeping, then located the keys and drove off with both cars. The victims only discovered the burglary the next morning, when Tracker was immediately alerted. Live GPS locations were then obtained and passed to local police, who went on to recover the Audis within minutes of each other, now fitted with false number plates, from separate addresses 12 miles away.
Comments Steve Whittaker, Tracker’s Police Liaison Manager, “With two high-end vehicles stolen and false number plates fitted, the thieves may have thought their crime had paid off. However, with Tracker’s intelligence and police co-operation, the vehicles were successfully located within the hour and returned to their grateful owners, after gathering valuable forensic sweeps from both cars.”
Recovery of the stolen vehicles, which have combined value of almost £59,000, was only possible due to Tracker’s unique partnership with UK police forces and its use of VHF technology with GPS/GSM technology. The VHF signal is picked up by Tracker detection devices fitted in police patrol vehicles. Tracker’s stolen vehicle recovery solutions then work like a homing device. A covert transmitter is hidden in one of several dozen places around the vehicle, with no visible aerial, the thief doesn’t know it is there.
These solutions aren’t just protecting high–end brands, such as Audi, BMW, Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz, but also mid-range makes, including Ford, Volkswagen, Nissan and Mazda. The recovery of the two Audis comes after the company announced a 55% jump in the total number of stolen vehicles it jointly recovered with police in 2025, as thieves continue to target vehicles to sell on, using the profits to fund the wider activities of organised crime gangs (OCGs).
Steve Whittaker continues, “Vehicle theft can be financially devastating for motorists and a brazen theft of this nature can also leave victims feeling emotionally vulnerable. So, it is incredibly rewarding that Tracker intelligence and the close cooperation between us and the police has meant we could reunite the victims with their vehicles so quickly. As well as delighting the owners, the rapid recovery of the cars also prevents them from being moved further afield either here in the UK or abroad, or being stripped for their parts which are then sold on the illicit second-hand parts market, demonstrating the effectiveness of early activation and police liaison.”
Tracker is the only SVR provider supported nationwide by U.K. police services that track, locate and recover stolen assets. Majority of police patrol vehicles and all police helicopters are fitted with Tracker detection units. Confirming Tracker as a superior security defence against determined thieves, Tracker boasts a 95% success rate, 50% of which are recovered within 4 hours and 80% are returned to their owners within 24 hours, undamaged.
