Angelica Solutions Joins PACTS Young Driver Project

Young driver safety is a priority for the insurance sector so supporting initiatives like PACTS makes sense. Here’s the word from Angelica Solutions;

Angelica Solutions has joined a PACTS-led project to explore a safety rating system for young driver motor insurance, bringing its insurance analytics expertise to a collaboration of insurance specialists, researchers and road safety organisations.

Funded through Transport Scotland’s Road Safety Framework Fund, the Young Driver Insurance Safety Framework project will assess whether a common framework could help insurers demonstrate the safety value of their products and enable young drivers and parents to compare policies beyond price.

The research will focus on telematics, or “black box” insurance, examining the driving behaviours products measure, how feedback and incentives are delivered, and the evidence linking these features to safer driving.

Sarah Vaughan, Founder and Director of Angelica Solutions, said: “We’re pleased to bring our insurance analytics expertise to this project. Insurers have an important role in helping young drivers develop safer driving habits and understanding which product features make a difference is central to that. Working with PACTS and our project partners, we will explore how that evidence could support product development and help families make more informed insurance choices.”

Led by the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS), the project also involves Confused.com, Agilysis, Defaqto, researchers Dr Neale Kinnear and Dr Elizabeth Box and road safety communications specialist Rebecca Morris.

Running until August 2027, the feasibility study will develop and test a safety assessment framework and prototype consumer rating system. Young drivers, parents, insurers, brokers and comparison platforms will contribute, helping establish its usefulness and commercial and technical feasibility.
