HDI Simplifies the Cyber Quote Process For Medium Size Companies

The latest from HDI for you;

HDI Insurance now offers small and medium-sized enterprises a considerable simplification for taking out their cyber insurance cover. Companies with an annual turnover of up to 20 million euros can now take out the important insurance cover without having to go through extensive risk questionnaires. The prerequisite for this is the simultaneous conclusion of the cyber security module. Until now, this option was limited to companies with an annual turnover of 10 million euros.

The cyber security module includes an annual “Security Baseline Check”, an additional service provided by HDI partner Perseus Technologies. In this way, the company’s technical and organizational security measures are regularly checked on a random basis. If this service is already booked when the insurance contract is concluded, there is no need to answer the risk questionnaires. In addition, HDI waives the examination of breaches of obligations in the event of a positive result of the check in the event of a claim.

Independent and confidential cybersecurity check

The contents of the check include audits of measures to sensitize employees to the topic of cybersecurity, identity and authorization management, protection against malware and the data backup concept. The check thus provides the company with detailed information on the status of its own cyber security.

An important point here is confidentiality: contact and the evaluation of the checks are carried out exclusively by Perseus. The results are communicated only to the insured company. A quarter of customers now opt for this service when taking out cyber insurance, but it can also be booked retrospectively as part of the HDI Cyber Policy.

Peter Bertram, Head of Product Management and Underwriting Cyber at HDI Insurance, explains: “Based on the positive experience with the Security Baseline Check, we have extended the option to companies with a turnover of up to EUR 20 million. Because in addition to the added safety, the customer conversation is also significantly simplified.” The customer’s detailed technical knowledge of the state of his company’s cybersecurity is no longer necessary. Of course, it is still possible to take out the HDI Cyber Policy without a cyber security module using risk questionnaires.
