The insurance broker business in the UK is changing fast. Not only have many of the traditional High Street brokerage shops closed their doors, but even the 1990s internet/call centre model is undergoing rapid transformation. New start ups, offering PAYG insurance, often via smartphone app, or flexible, build-your-own policy insurance, are winning new, internet-savvy customers.
In a unique communications partnership, the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) and ITN Productions are producing a news and current affairs-style programme exploring the role of the trusted modern-day insurance broker and how the insurance market is changing.
‘De-Risking the Future’ will highlight how the role of the trusted insurance broker is changing, giving organisations leading the change the opportunity to tell their story, to celebrate success and to encourage others to innovate, adapt and evolve. The programme will also bring to life how the sector is striving for professionalism, diversification and proportionate regulation.
Drawing upon ITN’s 60 year heritage and expertise in storytelling, the news-style piece will be anchored by Natasha Kaplinsky to combine key interviews and reports with sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations.
Premiered at The BIBA Annual Conference on May 16th 2018. The programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring BIBA members, industry partners, government partners, as well as relevant journalists, writers and bloggers.
Steve White, Chief Executive, BIBA said: “Insurance plays a key part in helping consumers and businesses manage the risks that they all face on a daily basis. Insurance brokers employ more than 100,000 staff in the UK, make a contribution of 1% to UK GDP and play a crucial role in helping identify, manage and mitigate these risks. We at BIBA are delighted to be working with ITN Productions, a well- established and respected production hub to highlight the way insurance brokers engage with clients to help them make sense of our rapidly changing world.”
Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with the British Insurance Brokers’ Association to produce a programme exploring the role that insurance brokers are playing in a changing market and how they can evolve into the trusted risk management and risk analysis-centred professionals that the market needs to thrive. We’re excited to embark on the programme and engage with professionals throughout the sector and beyond to tell that story. We hope the content can be used to share best practise, innovation and ideas to shape a stable and secure future.”
