Partnerships: Allianz Ties Up With Eurotunnel on Roadside Assist Product

Breaking down when you’re on a driving holiday in France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, or perhaps Eastern Europe is absolutely no fun at all. First, you have the language barrier as regards roadside recovery and then the hassle of repairs via an overseas garage or dealership. It can be even more daunting if you’re on a motorcycle tour and need spare parts like handelbar mirrors, or a gear-shifter perhaps – do you know the Czech or French words for gear lever? Nope, neither do we.

Allianz Partners UK has been chosen by Eurotunnel as its European roadside assistance partner, delivering premium customer care under the Allianz Assistance UK brand. The contract win sees Allianz Partners extend its collaboration with Eurotunnel beyond travel insurance, which it has been providing to Eurotunnel customers for the last fourteen years.

Crucially, whilst roadside assistance and travel insurance can be bought as standalone policies, customers can also opt to purchase a combined roadside assistance and travel insurance policy, on either a single-trip or annual basis.

“We are delighted to build on our long-term partnership with Eurotunnel as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. The extension of the range of services we now offer its customers is testament to the tried and tested affiliation our two companies continue to enjoy,” says Mike Dunphy, Account Manager, Allianz Partners UK.

Allianz Partners is no stranger to the roadside assistance market, handling more than 4 million motor assistance cases throughout Europe each year on behalf of numerous motor manufacturers.  This was a key influencer on Eurotunnel’s decision to move to Allianz Partners, as approximately six hundred of their customers who take out the Eurotunnel breakdown policy require European roadside assistance every year.

Allianz Partners has been working with Eurotunnel to redesign the roadside assistance product it offers its customers, enabling them to travel with true peace of mind. The all-new roadside assistance service includes optional Gold cover which provides an increased level of benefits, including £500 towards parts and labour for repairs – a welcome addition for anyone driving in mainland Europe, concerned about the potential repair costs following a breakdown.

This offers even greater financial protection to  travellers on a holiday budget. All products will be managed by Allianz Partners’ UK based operations centre, delivering further reassurance to English-speaking travellers.

“Allianz Partners’ track record speaks for itself,” says Ian Harrison, Head of Customer Engagement at Eurotunnel Le Shuttle. “We’ve been delighted with the travel insurance services that they deliver to our customers, so it was a natural step for us to join forces when we decided to increase the roadside assistance benefits available to our customers.”
