The former CEO of Allianz Partners, Serge Corel has leaped into insurtech, joining flexible insurance startup, Cuvva. In his capacity as Director of Partnerships, Corel will play a key role in driving continued growth at the startup.
Before joining Cuvva at the start of September 2019, Corel served more than 22 years at Allianz Partners as CFO and more recently, MD and CEO. Corel was instrumental in steering Allianz Partners’ year-on-year growth from £20m gross written premium (GWP) when he joined in 1997 to £140m GWP in 2017, when he left.
Commenting on the announcement, Cuvva founder, Freddy Macnamara said: “We’re really excited to welcome Serge to the team. His extensive industry knowledge and varied experience will be a key part of our future growth”
Serge Corel commented: “After more than two decades in the industry, I’m eager to join the insurtech movement and help Cuvva challenge the way insurance products are built and sold.”
Insurtech players are gaining traction as they simplify the complexities around insurance with the use of technology. Cuvva is an app-based insurance provider that enables its customers to purchase comprehensive short-term motor and single trip travel insurance directly from their phone, in as little as a few seconds.
